Shah Rukh Khan officially unveiled a teaser trailer for his Bollywood comeback film Pathaan.

The film marks SRK’s return to acting since Zero in 2018.

The Siddharth Anand directorial has been in production for over a year, it had never been officially confirmed by either Shah Rukh or production house Yash Raj Films.

In the teaser, SRK, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham talk about the mysterious titular character Sikandar Pathaan.

The one-minute clip suggests that it will be a patriotic film and that Pathaan puts India first, which he calls “his religion”.

The video provides the first looks of Deepika and John in the film.

Both speak about Pathaan, saying he is nameless and his one goal in life is to protect India at any cost.

Shah Rukh then emerges out of the shadows and viewers see a glimpse of his character as he sports long hair.

He also speaks about his love for India.

The trailer also unveiled its release date. Pathaan is set to release on January 25, 2023, to coincide with Republic Day.

Shah Rukh captioned his post:

“I know it’s late… But remember the date… Pathaan time starts now…

“See you in cinemas on 25th January 2023.

“Releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Celebrate Pathaan with #YRF50 only at a big screen near you.”

It is believed that Pathaan will take place in YRF’s shared Spy Universe.

The shared universe also includes Salman Khan’s Tiger franchise and Hrithik Roshan’s War.

Salman is believed to make a cameo in Pathaan while SRK will briefly appear in Tiger 3.

Shah Rukh last starred in Zero, which failed to make an impact at the box office.

During his time away from acting, the Bollywood megastar has been busy with production ventures.

In 2020, he produced two films under his Red Chillies Entertainment banner – Kaamyaab and Class of 83.

In 2021, SRK released Bob Biswas, an origin story of the contract killer who was first seen in the 2012 film Kahaani.

Most recently, Red Chillies Entertainment produced Love Hostel, which was released on ZEE5 on February 25, 2022.

On the acting front, Shah Rukh has a number of projects lined up.

After Pathaan, he will be seen in Atlee’s untitled project.

He will then collaborate for the first time with director Rajkumar Hirani.
