Police have issued a "do not approach" warning
A “do not approach” warning has been issued by Leicestershire Police over two men wanted in connection with armed robberies at supermarkets.
The investigation centres on three robberies spanning October 10 to October 12, 2024.
A 40-year-old man from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. He has since been released on bail.
Officers are looking for two others in connection with the armed robberies.
The first robbery happened at Tesco in Wigston’s Blaby Road at around 11:55 pm on October 10 before the Tesco branch in Ethel Road, Evington, was targeted at around 9:40 am the next day.
At around 9:25 am on October 12, the Sainsbury’s near Fosse Park was targeted.
In each of the robberies, two men reportedly entered the supermarkets at separate times before trying to leave without paying for bottles of alcohol.
When challenged by staff, threats were allegedly made.
At the Tesco stores, it is reported that the threats were made with a handgun.
At Sainsbury’s, the men allegedly threatened staff with a knife and a gun.
The suspects are then reported to have left the supermarkets with bottles of alcohol.
No serious injuries were reported.
The three incidents have been linked by officers and CCTV images of the two men have been released.
Police have issued a “do not approach” warning if a member of the public sees them.
Detective Inspector George Fraser said: “As I said earlier, we are treating these incidents as a priority in force and our investigation and enquiries are very much ongoing.
“We are looking to speak to the men pictured and urge anyone who recognises them to make contact with us immediately.
“If you see the men, please do not approach them but please contact 999 immediately.
“We also continue to appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the incidents to make contact with us.
“Please think back to if you were in or near any of the stores mentioned around the times of the incidents.”
“Did you see anything which caused you concern? Or do you have any dashcam footage from the area which could hold vital information?
“Please get in touch if you have any information which could help.
“Thank you for your ongoing help and cooperation with us as we continue to progress our investigations into these incidents.”
A dedicated team continues to carry out enquiries at the scenes, to speak to a number of witnesses and to analyse CCTV. Support is being provided to the victims involved.
