A Pakistani wife has been arrested for shooting her husband dead. She killed her husband after it was found that he had allegedly been sexually abusing their 14-year-old daughter.
The incident happened in the Mirah Surezai area, which is on the outskirts of Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The killing came to light on Thursday, February 13, 2020. Police responded to reports of a murder at a home.
When officers arrived, they found 40-year-old Gul Meena sitting beside the body of the victim, identified as her husband Jan Muhammad.
When she was questioned, Meena confessed to the murder.
She went on to say that she killed him because he had been sexually abusing their teenage daughter.
Meena alleged that her husband would regularly abuse the girl and had even raped her.
On the night of February 12, Jan allegedly abused his daughter again which is when Meena came to know about her husband’s depraved acts.
When Meena tried to stop him from sexually assaulting their daughter, he brutally beat her.
The Pakistani wife then decided to kill her husband. The next morning, Meena walked into the bedroom armed with a pistol while her husband was asleep.
She then fired numerous times, killing him instantly.
After Meena confessed to murder and made the sexual abuse allegations, she was arrested and taken to Inqilab Police Station.
Meena also stated that her account can be verified by her daughter.
A case was registered against the woman and an investigation was launched. Meanwhile, Meena was transferred to a women’s prison and the daughter was questioned.
Officers went to the house and collected evidence from the scene.
Police officers have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that the daughter will undergo medical tests as a result of the statement made by her mother.
They went on to say that further legal action will be taken once they receive the results of the medical tests.
Meanwhile, Meena remains in custody.
In a similar incident which took place in the Indian state of Assam, a man was stabbed to death by his wife after she found out he had raped their teenage daughter.
After she was arrested, the woman admitted to killing her husband.
According to the police, the woman explained that “her husband routinely misbehaved with their daughter and had even raped her. That’s the reason she decided to kill him.”
