The alleged incidents took place within the school premises
Police in Lahore have arrested a private school principal on allegations of abusing a fourth-grade student.
According to officials, the suspect, identified as Ghulam Nabi, was taken into custody by Hanjarwal police.
Initial investigation revealed that the 11-year-old victim had allegedly been subjected to inappropriate acts for nearly two months.
Authorities stated that the principal not only abused the child but also threatened her with severe consequences if she spoke out.
The case came to light when the victim’s mother, Iqra Imran, lodged a complaint at Hanjarwal Police Station.
Following the report, officers swiftly moved to arrest the accused and transferred him to the investigation wing for further proceedings.
Superintendent of Police Dr Muhammad Umar confirmed the arrest and said strict legal action will be taken under relevant child protection laws.
He emphasised that individuals who harm children in such ways do not deserve leniency and will face full justice.
The alleged incidents took place within the school premises, raising serious concerns over safety protocols and staff monitoring in private institutions.
Police sources said the victim had been living in fear due to repeated threats from the suspect to remain silent.
Such intimidation, officials noted, often prevents children from immediately reporting abuse, prolonging the suffering and allowing the crime to continue.
Community members expressed outrage over the case, with calls for stronger safeguards in schools to prevent similar incidents.
The arrest in Lahore follows another high-profile case in Multan, where a man accused of abusing a child was detained.
In that incident, the suspect was injured after accidentally shooting himself while attempting to fire at police during a raid.
A video showing the Multan suspect engaging in inappropriate behaviour went viral, sparking widespread anger and demands for immediate action.
Both cases have renewed public debate on the effectiveness of child protection mechanisms.
Human rights activists have urged educational institutions to implement rigorous background checks for staff and to train children to report abuse.
They have also stressed the importance of incorporating sex education within the Pakistani curriculum to spread awareness about such abuse.
Authorities in Lahore have assured that the investigation into the school principal’s alleged actions will be thorough and evidence-based.
For now, the accused remains in custody as investigators collect evidence and prepare for the court case.
