India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has issued summons to Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh.

The four actresses have been summoned in relation to the drugs investigation that has been linked with Bollywood following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

Deepika has been asked to appear before the NCB on September 25, 2020, while Shraddha and Sara are expected to appear the day after.

Sara, Rakul and fashion designer Simone Khambatta were reportedly identified by Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty during questioning.

She had been arrested for allegedly procuring drugs for Sushant.

However, according to Rhea’s lawyer, she never named any celebrities.

Advocate Satish Maneshinde refuted the reports, saying: “Rhea did not name any Bollywood actors.”

Meanwhile, Deepika was named by Rhea’s talent manager Jaya Saha.

Jaya was questioned after WhatsApp conversations discussed drugs. Jaya’s name was revealed in the chat with Rhea as well as two other names.

Two names, known as ‘D‘ and ‘K’ were also in the conversation.

‘K’ was identified as Deepika’s manager Karishma Prakash while ‘D’ was reportedly Deepika.

In the conversation, ‘D’ is seen asking for “hash” and “not weed”.

As a result, their names may act as a possible connection to Bollywood’s drug link.

Karishma was summoned for questioning on September 22, 2020, however, she sought an exemption on the grounds of “ill health”.

After she was named, Rakul Preet Singh filed a petition in the Delhi High Court against a media trial.

In her plea, she claimed that Rhea had already retracted the statement in which she was allegedly named and yet media outlets were connecting her to the case.

The NCB has so far arrested more than 12 people. This includes Rhea and her brother Showik Chakraborty, in connection to a drugs angle that has been linked to Sushant’s death.

During the NCB’s investigation into the drugs angle, there have been suspicions that there is a wider drugs dimension in Bollywood.

There have been claims that several Bollywood celebrities are associated with a drugs cartel.

Sushant was tragically found dead at his apartment on June 14, 2020.

It was initially ruled as a suicide, however, there are claims that he was murdered.

An investigation which has covered numerous angles have been going on.

Factors like his relationship with Rhea, the bigger picture of nepotism within Bollywood and the industry’s alleged links to a drugs mafia are currently being investigated.
