NCB say Deepika Padukone is Admin of WhatsApp Drugs Chat

After Deepika Padukone was named in a WhatsApp chat discussing drugs, the NCB has reportedly said the actress was the admin of the group.

Deepika Padukone faces Backlash for calling present India ‘Great’

"Deepika also then clarifies that she needs 'hash'."

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has reportedly revealed that Deepika Padukone was the admin of the WhatsApp group for the drug chat.

Deepika’s manager Karishma Prakash and Rhea Chakraborty’s manager Jaya Saha were also part of the WhatsApp group.

This comes after a WhatsApp exchange reportedly discussed the use of drugs.

Deepika, known as ‘D‘ in the WhatsApp group, was asking for a meal and hash from a person known as ‘K’.

According to a report by Republic Media Network, ‘D’ and ‘K’ were speaking to Jaya in which they were discussing drugs.

The report stated: “The chats accessed are from October 2017 and show Deepika asking for ‘maal’ from ‘K’ who replies that she has it, but at home.

“Further ‘K’ says that she can ask ‘Amit’ if she wants it, as ‘he is carrying’. Deepika also then clarifies that she needs ‘hash’ and not ‘weed’ as the two discuss logistics.”

The emergence of the group chat possibly linked Deepika to the ongoing Bollywood drugs case.

The NCB has now said that Deepika was the admin of the group chat. The actress has been summoned to appear before them for questioning on September 26, 2020.

Deepika was named alongside fellow actresses Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh as persons of interest in the drugs investigation that has been linked with Bollywood following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

On September 25, 2020, Rakul was questioned by the NCB. During questioning, Rakul reportedly admitted to talking to Rhea about drugs.

The actress allegedly said that she kept the drugs with her but did not consume them. She said that it was for Rhea.

Deepika’s manager was also questioned by the NCB.

Sara and Shraddha are set to appear for questioning on September 26, 2020.

Deepika’s name being mentioned in the drugs case has reportedly caused immense embarrassment for both Deepika’s and her husband Ranveer Singh’s families.

However, sources close to the couple say that both families are firmly behind Deepika Padukone.

It was reported that the couple will be releasing a joint statement soon.

A filmmaker close to the couple has said that both Ranveer and Deepika are in a state of shock over the developments.

“But I don’t think they are going to let this (the chat on drugs) defeat their morale.

“I think they will come out in Deepika’s defence very strongly very soon after they consider all their legal options.”
