Marathi actor and comedian Atul Parchure has sadly passed away at the age of 57 due to cancer.

In a 2023 interview, he revealed that doctors had discovered a 5 cm tumour in his liver.

He shared that after returning from a trip to Australia and New Zealand, he began experiencing severe nausea and loss of appetite.

Following several consultations, an ultrasonography confirmed the presence of a cancerous tumour.

Despite the diagnosis, Atul remained optimistic and recalled how his doctor assured him he would recover.

Atul faced significant health challenges during his treatment, including a misdiagnosis that complicated his condition.

He spoke about undergoing a procedure that adversely affected his pancreas, leading to further complications.

He had recounted: “I couldn’t even walk. I used to fumble while talking.

“In such a condition, the doctor asked me to wait for one and a half months.

“They said if they do the surgery, I’d get jaundice for years and my liver will be watery or I wouldn’t survive.

“Later, I changed doctors and took proper medication and chemotherapy.”

Unfortunately, despite beating his cancer, Atul’s health declined.

The actor was admitted to HN Reliance Foundation Hospital, where he spent his final days.

Sources close to the family confirmed that he passed away on October 14, 2024.

Marathi actor Jaywant Wadkar expressed his condolences, noting that Atul was slated to appear in the Marathi play Suryachi Pillay.

They were rehearsing together just before Atul was hospitalised. Atul’s last rites were performed on October 15, 2024, in Mumbai.

Several industry colleagues, including Shreyas Talpade and Sumeet Raghavan, attended to pay their respects.

Many celebrities and politicians also visited Atul’s home to pay their respects.

In a video that emerged on social media, Shreyas was seen comforting Atul’s grieving family.

Raj Thackeray, president of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, also came to offer his condolences.

Filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar and actors Sachin Khedekar and Nivedita Saraf were also present.

Atul Parchure is survived by his mother, wife, and daughter, who have requested privacy during this difficult time.

Known for his work in the Marathi film and theatre industries, Atul also made a mark in Bollywood.
