"Just the right reaction to hit him back."

Iqra Aziz’s Mannat Murad has caused a stir with a slap scene involving the lead characters.

The drama initially started off as a romantic comedy, however, such elements have been absent for some time.

Mannat (Iqra Aziz) and Murad (Talha Chahour) had a love marriage but the latter overlooked the sacrifices Mannat made as his wife.

Mannat found herself in a marriage where her husband failed to prioritise her over his overbearing mother.

However, the latest episode has got fans talking.

Murad confronts his wife and demands for her to apologise to his mother.

After Mannat refuses, Murad slaps her in front of his family.

In an unexpected turn, Mannat retaliates and slaps Murad back.

Afterwards, the couple realise that they have both been unfair to one another.

The clip was shared on Instagram with a caption that read:

Mannat Murad unfolds as a challenging narrative, shifting from a tender romance to intricate family politics with a passive male lead and a frustrated female protagonist.

“However, a recent plot development has viewers cheering, particularly in response to the clip shared by the drama’s producers highlighting the issue of unacceptable behaviour.

“What are your thoughts on dramas addressing societal issues?”

This intense moment sparked extensive online discussions, with viewers expressing their thoughts on the characters’ actions.

Some agreed with Mannat’s actions, with one saying:

“Well done Mannat. Just the right reaction to hit him back. Well-written scene.”

Another added: “Very good, and same for all girls. If he hits you then don’t hesitate to respond. Everyone has their self-respect.”

A third answered: “I think such scenes should not be shown in dramas where you promote domestic violence.

“Neither a boy should slap a girl, nor a girl slap a boy.”

However, others were shocked that Murad slapped his wife.

One viewer tweeted: “Literally shook!

“Murad slapping Mannat is so messed up, like you haven’t stood up for her and always chose your mother.

“Let’s be real, Mannat slapping Murad is well deserved. Thought this would be a rom-com but it’s giving toxicity.”

Another commented: “Some people are condemning the Mannat Murad slap scene but I think even if Murad didn’t slap Mannat first, he deserved it.

“Man has been nothing but a puppet dancing to his mommy and sister’s instructions and I’m still surprised a girl like Mannat fell for him.”

Mannat Murad also stars Noor-ul-Hassan, Irsa Ghazal, Mizna Waqas, Rabya Kulsoom, Ali Rehman and Uzma Hassan.

It has been written by Nadia Akhtar, directed by Syed Wajahat Hussain and produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi.
