“Manchester United has always been about diversity and inclusion"
Manchester United has officially welcomed the Stretford Sikhs as its latest official supporters’ club, joining a global network of 329 clubs across 90 countries.
The Sikh supporters’ club is the latest to gain official status since January 2025, following Guizhou, Indonesia Bekasi, Panjabi Red Devils, Albuquerque Red Devils, Birmingham Alabama, and the Manchester United Supporters Team.
Unlike location-based supporters’ clubs, the Stretford Sikhs bring together fans united by faith, welcoming both Sikh supporters and allies.
The group plans to expand throughout the season with social events, meet-ups, and initiatives aimed at improving the matchday experience for Sikh fans.
To mark the launch, members joined club legend Denis Irwin pitchside at Old Trafford during the FA Cup fifth-round clash against Fulham.
United continues to focus on inclusivity, ensuring all fans feel welcome and valued.
Stretford Sikhs Secretary, Preetam Singh, said: “Becoming the first-ever official Sikh MUSC is bigger than just football.
“It’s about representation, showing Sikh fans around the world that we truly belong in the game and creating a legacy that will inspire current and future generations.
“Manchester United has always been about diversity and inclusion and for us to now be recognised officially by the club is a proud milestone.
“It’s a statement that football and Manchester United is for everyone, regardless of background or faith.”
The addition of Stretford Sikhs builds on the club’s wider equality, diversity, and inclusion efforts.
Recent initiatives include the opening of a new multi-faith room at Old Trafford with the official Muslim Supporters’ Club.
Rick McGagh, director of fan engagement, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Stretford Sikhs to our global family of official supporters’ clubs.
“We look forward to working with them, and their members, to improve their experience and to bring more communities together.”
“We work closely with our official supporters’ clubs to inform our thinking, to help reach our fans across the world, and to bring our fans closer to the club and players.
“I would encourage any fan who is considering joining a supporters’ club to do so or, if you are thinking about starting a new one, then get in touch and we can help you join the United family.”
Manchester United has also became the first Premier League club to install sanitary bins in men’s toilets in partnership with BOG STANDARD, phs Group, and Prostate Cancer.
The club’s academy previously hosted a Holocaust memorial event as part of its enrichment programme.
