"He's watched every season and he's said ‘don't have sex on TV’."
As she prepares to enter Love Island, Shakira Khan revealed her self-confessed superfan dad has told her to steer clear of bedroom antics in the villa.
The 22-year-old from Burnley, who works in marketing, is among the latest group of hopefuls looking for love in the sun-soaked Majorcan villa.
But while her Instagram feed is full of glamorous holiday snaps from Turkey, Dubai and Mexico, her father has set firm boundaries ahead of her reality TV debut.
Shakira said: “I’ve had to keep it quiet so I think a lot of my friends will be shocked but super, super excited.
“My family are over the moon and my dad is a Love Island superfan. He’s watched every season and he’s said ‘don’t have sex on TV’ so definitely not.
“Sex after eight weeks is a no-go. I’m quite particular and I like to be wined and dined first.”
Her comments come as producers confirmed a major shake-up to this year’s series, with steamy scenes from the Hideaway set to return after being scrapped in 2020.
Viewers will now get to see what contestants get up to between the sheets.
Love Island is also famed for heated clashes and Shakira Khan’s fiery personality could come out as she is good at “winning arguments”.
Warning her fellow Islanders, she said: “I could argue with a brick wall.
“If arguing was an Olympic sport, I’d have a gold medal.
“Even if I’m wrong, I’ll argue in the face until I have no breath left. I’m not the one to start an argument but I’ll finish it.”
The beauty also made it clear that she is loyal to the girls but is not afraid of confrontation.
“I won’t go hunting for the drama but if someone wants to pick a fight with me, girls or not, then they are going to get a response.
“I’m definitely a girls girl, so if you’re one of my close girls, everything is off limits, like I won’t speak to your fella and I’ve got your back through everything.
“Everyone is there for the same reason so you’ve got to be a bit selfish and I’m definitely not afraid to step on a few toes.”
The new series of Love Island gets underway on ITV2 on June 9, 2025, at 9 pm.
