A London Desi Wedding full of Romance and Elegance

Wedding photographer Sukhbir Channa talks exclusively to DESIblitz about a romantic wedding and engagement session in London.

A London Desi Wedding full of Romance and Elegance

“[Both families] end up in a dance off right before the entrances!”

Asha and Amardeep tie the knot in the historic Beaumont Estate Hotel in Windsor on a lovely Spring day.

Elegantly dressed in red and white from head to toe, the London-based couple is joined by family and guests at the Victorian venue that boasts 40 acres of beautiful grounds.

It is truly a dream for any wedding photographer. Sukhbir Channa tells DESIblitz: “This venue is just amazing to shoot at and the grounds provide so much creativity for us!”

The dazzling colour palette of Asian weddings remains the unwavering focus of his photos, as the rituals and celebrations move from outdoor to indoor.

Even the most spontaneous moments cannot escape his lens. Recounting a little surprise at the wedding, Sukhbir says:

“Amardeep has no idea that there is going to be a trumpet and dhol duo from Band Bajha Entertainment for his baraat!

“This has brought out a lot of excitement for both families. They end up in a dance-off right before the entrances!”

And the fun continues into the night. Asha slips into a gorgeous golden champagne flowing number. Amardeep opts for an unusual but handsome combination with a bold tie and grey suit.

Sukhbir loves how comfortable they are with each other in front of the camera, making it an absolute joy to photograph their wedding:

“They are so relaxed and welcoming that we really just feel like part of the family!

“We had a great time capturing their moments and an even better time partying with them after we were done!”

Sukhbir also organises the couple’s engagement session in central London:

“Their engagement shoot is so much fun! The overall theme is cute, goofy, elegantly romantic.

“We always want the pictures from this session to be defined by the couple’s personalities and this shoot does just that.”

Starting from the quirky Camden Market, the photoshoot recreates a romantic date as the couple explore the city and share an intimate evening.

“Asha and Amardeep invite us to join them on a weekend walk through Camden Market. This is great for those candid intimate moments.

“We also pay a visit to their condo to capture a few sunset pictures on their balcony, overlooking Tower Bridge.

“Their condo is so fabulous that we just have to incorporate some of the shots indoors!”

London has a special place in Sukhbir’s heart. He reveals: “London has a lot of little areas that offer their own unique vibes and attitudes. With this, of course, comes amazing food!

“I try to find a new area of town on each visit and have yet to be disappointed.”

Channa Photography started in the early 1990s in Toronto when Sukhbir and his brother Jatinder would help their father at various events.

Having taken over the family business, they continue to grow by staying true to a distinctively natural and stylish approach.

Sukhbir tells us: “What helps us achieve this is by building relationships with our amazing couples.

“This really creates a cool vibe between all of us and allows the couple to feel super comfortable. This, in turn, allows to capture those moments.”
