"It is just a drop of a few episodes because I cannot ignore my health at this stage."

An official spokesperson for Sony TV has confirmed that The Kapil Sharma Show will go off the air.

Due to the host’s recent issues concerning his health, the channel has decided to replace the show’s time slot with The Drama Company for the time being.

Speculation surrounding The Kapil Sharma Show began on 31st August 2017 as reports first claimed the show would go off the air.

A source told Indian Express: “Super Dancer will take The Drama Company’s time slot of 8 pm, while the latter will be pushed to Kapil’s air time of 9 pm.

“The channel is waiting for Kapil to recover and get back fit and fine. If and when it happens, the show might get the 10 pm slot.”

As rumours grew, it seems Sony TV decided to end speculation and make an announcement. Confirming the fate of The Kapil Sharma Show, their official spokesperson revealed:

“Kapil has been under the weather for sometime now. Due to which, we have mutually agreed to take a short break. However once Kapil has recovered completely, we will start shooting once again. We value our relationship with Kapil and wish him a speedy recovery.”

The show’s host also confirmed the news himself, citing health issues as for the reason. Speaking to PinkVilla, he said:

“Yes, I am just going to rest for some days. It is just a drop of a few episodes because I cannot ignore my health at this stage when my movie is also going to release and the coming schedule is going to be more hectic.

“I will come back with full force. I am thankful to the channel that they allowed me and did not put any pressure.”

The official spokesperson reassured fans that old re-runs of The Kapil Sharma Show would continue to air.

“From the coming weekend, our other comedy show, The Drama Company [starring Krushna Abhishek] will be on air at 9pm, and The Kapil Sharma Show’s re-run episodes will be aired at 8pm.”

Since the airplane incident in March 2017, The Kapil Sharma Show has become surrounded in controversy. From cast members leaving to rumours of its contract ending with Sony TV.

Now with this latest development, fans will hope their favourite host will spring back to action.

Until then, they will have to tune into the scheduled re-runs while they wait for the expected return of Kapil Sharma.
