Jilted Indian Man set Lover on Fire for Rejecting his Proposal

Chilling footage showed the moment an Indian man set his lover on fire after she rejected his marriage proposal.

The horrific incident happened in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur.

The victim was identified as Sapna Yadav, a flower shop owner.

She was still married but had left her husband and was living at her parent’s house with her two children.

Narendra Punjabi was in love with her and pestered her to marry him. However, Sapna rejected his proposals.

Scorned, Narendra plotted to cause harm to her.

He turned up at her workplace in Mastana Chowk.

CCTV footage showed the flower shop and locals going about their business.

A man was seen parking his motor scooter.

In the background, Narendra is seen getting into an argument with Sapna but the moment is obscured by flowers.

He is then seen throwing something at her. It is believed it was petrol.

Narendra reached into his pocket and threw another object at Sapna.

As he walked away from the flower shop, Narendra lit a match and flicked it at Sapna, setting her ablaze instantly.

Horrified witnesses ran away as Sapna screamed.

At the same time, Narendra’s arm caught fire, perhaps due to petrol being on his arm.

Bystanders and other shopkeepers rushed to help and were able to extinguish the flames.

Both Sapna and Narendra were taken to hospital and are currently undergoing treatment.

Doctors revealed that Sapna sustained 40% burns while Narendra suffered minor burns to his arm.

A police case has been registered against the Indian man and he will be arrested after medical treatment.

Officers said Sapna had repeatedly refused Narendra’s proposals.

This led to her filing a police complaint due to his harassment.

Despite these complaints, the police action was insufficient, culminating in this violent act.

Incidents involving scorned men committing violent acts are not uncommon in India.

In June 2024, Baljinder Kaur was hacked to death with a sword by Sukhchain Singh, who was reportedly angered by the fact she had rejected his proposal.

Baljinder was a call centre worker who travelled 35 kilometres by bus to her workplace every day.

Disturbing footage showed Baljinder walking with two friends to her workplace at around 8:30 am on June 8, 2024.

Singh – who was waiting by a tree – pulled out a sword and approached Baljinder.

He swung the sword at her, prompting her to run across the road in a bid to get to safety. Meanwhile, her friends ran away in terror.

As Singh chased her, he struck Baljinder several times across the arms.

She then fell to the floor and at that point, the scorned lover repeatedly slashed at her lifeless body.
