Akash Manzoor, aged 21, of Rochdale, was jailed for 12 months for sharing revenge porn pictures of his pregnant ex-girlfriend with her mother.
He had been expecting a child with the young woman, however, she dumped him due to his violent rages.
Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court heard he had known the woman for a year through mutual friends.
They began dating in October 2020 but he began assaulting her, including an attack which occurred on her birthday.
Joshua Bowker, prosecuting, said:
“She had planned on getting her makeup done professionally to mark the occasion but as she tried to leave her home, he dragged her back and punched her in the face.
“She fell to the floor where the defendant continued punching and kicking to the legs and face as she held her head.
“She got photographs of her injuries but he snapped her phone in half.
“Later that evening, she had friends over for her birthday but as they greeted her, the defendant produced a hammer and the friends ran from the house.
“He then turned on the victim and kicked her causing her to fall to the floor and he repeatedly kicked her again before running off.”
The relationship continued but while they were at home watching TV, Manzoor suddenly flew into a rage and threw items around the lounge including an electric plug which struck the woman in the face.
He then smashed her head into the TV before refusing her pleas to call an ambulance.
Mr Bowker said: “She ended the relationship saying she had never experienced anything like this in her life but following the break up he began contacting her by phone and social media.”
“Messages would initially be friendly but when she ignored them he would then threaten her.
“He contacted her by Snapchat saying he hoped she would have a miscarriage and called her a ‘rat’ and a ‘prostitute’.
“At the time she was pregnant with his child and she did in fact have a miscarriage sometime later.”
Manzoor also said in a text: “You’ve f***** with the wrong family.”
He subsequently sent the revenge porn pictures to the victim before sharing the revenge porn photos with her mother.
Mr Bowker continued: “He also called her on Facebook calling her a ‘slag’… sent her explicit and naked photos and videos of herself.
“When she pleaded with him to leave her alone said he wouldn’t until she ‘got what she deserved’.”
“He subsequently sent the pictures to her mother via Facebook along with the message: ‘Your daughter keeps begging me for sex’.”
Manzoor initially denied wrongdoing and claimed the victim caused her own injuries and was trying to “set him up”.
But when he was refused bail, he pleaded guilty to harassment, common assault, criminal damage to her £300 iPhone and disclosing private images with intent to cause distress.
Keith Harrison, defending, said Manzoor was an “immature” man who had difficulties managing his temper and who had suffered abuse himself as a child.
Mr Recorder Nicholas Clarke QC said:
“You were violent, aggressive and abusive towards this unfortunate young woman.
“These violent outbursts involved punching and kicking which persisted when she was on the floor.
“It’s fortunate she did not suffer more serious injuries.
“The disclosing of the private images was an act to further degrade and humiliate her.”
The Daily Mail reported that Manzoor was jailed for 12 months. He also received a restraining order, banning him from contacting the victim for five years.
