some users were commenting with sexual and pornographic slurs.
An Indian teacher and one of his students have been arrested for uploading photos of his female students on social media along with porn comments.
The incident happened in the town of Mokama in Bihar.
After an FIR was lodged, police officers arrested the teacher and one of his students. The teacher was identified as Sanjay Kumar.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Lipi Singh explained that the incident came to light when some of the victims’ parents had filed a complaint against Kumar.
They said that photos of their daughters had been shared online without their consent and sexual comments were posted alongside them.
As a result of the pictures being on social media, some users were commenting with sexual and pornographic slurs.
ASP Singh said that a fake account was created. Pictures of the female students, many of them minors, were uploaded onto the account along with the vulgar comments.
An investigation was launched and it led to Kumar and his student being arrested. They have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, IT Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The parents told officers that their daughters were taught by the Indian teacher.
In many of his classes, he would discuss the dangers of social media and the effect that uploading objectionable pictures could have on someone.
They stated that he would speak more on Facebook posts and comments rather than actually teaching them.
Police discovered that Kumar was an English teacher and when questioned, he admitted to uploading the photos and pornographic comments on the fake account.
When asked why he would do it to young girls, he said it was to teach them the negative effect that social media could have.
Following his arrest, more parents approached the police saying that they had also come across their daughter’s pictures.
Many commended the police for their efforts and told ASP Singh that their daughters are relieved to have got justice.
Following Kumar’s arrest, ASP Singh advised others to stop social media abuse and to stop posting pictures without consent.
ASP Singh went on to say that social media is being monitored in every area within the state of Bihar.
Anyone posting pictures of girls or women without their consent will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken.
