"The upper portion of my ear got dismembered."

An Indian woman was accused of biting off her husband’s ear during a row at home.

The incident reportedly occurred in November 2023, when the unnamed man informed hospital staff as he prepared to undergo surgery.

The staff then told the police on November 22. A case was subsequently filed against the woman.

She faces charges under Section 324 (intentionally causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) under the Indian Penal Code.

The husband apparently told police that his wife wanted him to sell the house.

This was so she could receive a share and live separately with her children.

The man explained: “I went to throw garbage outside my house around 9:20 am on November 20.

“I asked my wife to clean the house.”

An argument ensued between the couple and the Indian woman soon turned violent.

The man continued: “Soon after I returned home, my wife started fighting with me over an unknown issue.

“I tried to make her understand but a verbal spat ensued.

“She even tried to hit me but I pushed her away.

“I was walking out of the house when she held me from behind and bit my right ear so hard that the upper portion of my ear got dismembered.

“My son took me to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri for treatment.”

The police responded to the case on November 20.

A senior police officer explained: “The victim was unwell and not in a condition to give his statement.

“He had requested the police that he would come to the police station to give his statement.

“On November 22, he approached the police and gave a written complaint.

“We have registered an FIR into the matter and further investigation is in progress.”

The man was later transferred to Jaipur Golden Hospital for surgery.

The victim of the shocking incident is said to be 45 years old and from Delhi’s Sultanpuri area.

The act of domestic violence was puzzlingly met with support directed towards the Indian woman on Facebook.

One user commented: “Good job.”

Another declared: “Women empowerment.”

The incident also attracted sarcasm from people.

A user said: “Normal day at the office.”

However, some recognised the problematic nature of the alleged crime. One person said:

“It seems like the way this thing is being enjoyed on social media like there will be no fights or problems in their homes.

“Today, we are enjoying their fights. Maybe tomorrow, these same people will laugh at the problems of our homes.

“Be a good citizen and understand that tomorrow, such problems can happen to me too.”
