It was found that she took her own life by hanging herself. The incident happened at the family home in the village of Gondwar, Jharkhand.
The deceased was identified as 18-year-old Marina Hembrom, a student at St Columba’s College, Hazaribagh.
Her father, Babulal Hembrom, worked as a teacher at a government school in the village.
It is not known what led Marina to take her own life.
On January 21, she returned home after college had finished. After having her dinner, Marina went to her room. Her parents presumed she went to bed.
However, the next morning, her family became concerned when she did not come downstairs especially since she had college.
When Marina’s parents went to open their daughter’s bedroom door, they found that it was locked from the inside.
Fearing that something bad may have happened, they tried to break down the door but were unsuccessful.
They then went outside and asked for help from their neighbours. Some of the neighbours climbed onto the roof in an attempt to enter the room through the window.
But when they got near the window, they saw Marina hanging from her ceiling fan.
They quickly entered the room and took Marina down but by that time, she was already dead.
