When she opened the door, Sakri violently pushed her back in
An Indian man has been arrested for allegedly raping a 23-year-old woman in her hotel room.
The victim had been taking charge of a course that the accused was on. Police identified the suspect as Varun Nair Sakri.
The incident took place in Chhattisgarh’s capital city of Raipur.
A police investigation uncovered that Sakri had forced his way into the woman’s hotel room before raping her and leaving the room.
The incident came to light when the woman became ill after the rape and was rushed to hospital. She later informed her friend and doctors about the ordeal.
It was revealed that the young woman had arrived from Kawardha to train people within the automobile sector. She had organised a training course at the Hotel Corbiz in Pachpedi Naka.
On Friday, December 13, 2019, around 30 people, including Sakri turned up at the hotel in order to attend the first part of the three-day course.
After the training session finished, the woman intended to return to her home in Kawardha.
She went to the bus stand, however, no bus came. The woman then decided to return to the hotel where she booked a room for the night.
It was reported that Sakri had also been staying at the hotel, having travelled from Bilaspur to attend the course.
At around 11:30 pm, the Indian man knocked on the trainer’s room. When she opened the door, Sakri violently pushed her back in and closed the door.
He then allegedly raped the woman before leaving her hotel room.
Following the rape, the woman’s health began to deteriorate. She called a friend who quickly arrived at the hotel and took her to a hospital in Telibandha.
At the hospital, the woman told her friend and doctors that she was raped by Sakri in her hotel room.
Doctors subsequently called the police and officers from Telibandha Police Station arrested Sakri.
Following his arrest, Raipur ASP Praful Thakur said: “The victim belongs to Kawardha, who had come to the hotel for a training session at an automobile company.
“The accused raped her in the hotel. He has been arrested.”
After being taken into custody, Sakri and the case was transferred to Tikrapara Police Station.
Meanwhile, the investigation is ongoing to determine if Sakri was responsible and if so, his motive for targeting the course trainer.
