This project challenged him in unexpected ways.

Hridoy Khan is finally bringing his long-delayed short film Trapped to audiences in December 2025 after keeping the project unseen for six years.

The singer and composer confirmed the release through a newly unveiled trailer that immediately reignited interest.

The short was quietly finished years ago after being shot entirely in New York, yet Hridoy never explained why it remained unreleased for so long.

Viewers were first introduced to the project in 2020 through his song ‘Ochena’, which provided a brief glimpse into the mood and visual tone of the film.

The project resurfaced in early 2025 with the song ‘Shada Kalo’ that featured Hridoy strolling alone through New York streets in a melancholic and isolated frame.

Despite these teasers, the film itself remained locked away until Hridoy finally confirmed that the twenty-five-minute project will reach viewers before December ends.

The story follows a young man named Hridoy who becomes trapped within a dangerous drug network after unknowingly entering a situation he cannot escape.

He is forced into a monotonous and fear-driven routine until a chance meeting with a young woman named Mona briefly shifts the direction of his life.

Their connection allows him to imagine a future free from violence and coercion, which becomes the first hopeful moment in an otherwise bleak existence.

That hope collapses when Mona is murdered in front of him.

This pushes him toward a desperate plan that questions whether escape is ever truly possible.

The film explores whether he can sever himself from the people controlling him.

Hridoy directed the film and played the central role while casting Monalisa opposite him, alongside several performers from the Bangladeshi community based in New York.

Although he has appeared on camera many times through his music videos and commercial work, this marks his first attempt at acting in a narrative short film.

He has also previously worked in a television drama, which gave him some confidence, but he admits that this project challenged him in unexpected ways.

Speaking about the experience, Hridoy said that he always loved videography even before he became known for his music career.

He shared that he would often shoot and edit videos for personal projects, which helped him understand framing, colour and mood.

However, he emphasised that performing and directing simultaneously demanded a level of focus he had never encountered before.

With Trapped finally preparing for release, Hridoy Khan appears ready to share a project that has remained close to him for much of his creative life.
