For good skin care, exfoliation is a very important process to do. It removes the dead cells from the outermost layer of the skin.

These scrubs will help with the exfoliation of your skin.

In order to prepare your skin for exfoliation, have a shower for 5-10 minutes with warm or hot water.

This will soften your skin and make it ready to use the scrubs.

Massage your scrub into your skin with a circular motion and a gentle pressure.

It is not recommended to use the scrubs before you shave legs because it could cause the skin irritation.

After exfoliation, put some oil on your skin. This is the best time to do it because exfoliation opens the pores and improves the oil absorption.

Don’t dry your skin completely as leaving skin wet will help to absorb the oils better.

Exfoliation also encourages the release of natural oils in the skin and removes the dark spots.

Now, let’s look at how you can make these very effective Desi homemade body and face scrubs for your exfoliation regime.

Brown Sugar and Coconut Oil Scrub

  • 1 cup of coconut oil
  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 10 drops of Essential oils (optional)
  • 5 drops of Vanilla extract

  1. Take a medium sized bowl and put the cups of sugar and cup of solid, but soft coconut oil into it.
  2. Whip the brown sugar and the coconut oil with a mixer until you get a creamy texture.
  3. The scrub is now ready for you to use.

If the coconut oil melts, return it into the fridge until it solidifies again. Then you can keep mixing it.

You can keep this body and face scrub in the fridge and it can last from a few weeks to a few months.

If you store it in the shower area or bathroom and the scrub looks watery, mix it with your fingers before you use it.

Coconut oil is healthy for your skin because it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. This makes the coconut a natural medicine for atopic dermatitis or eczema.

Especially beneficial for dry skin, coconut oil moisturises and hydrates the skin.

Brown sugar is a natural humectant, so it absorbs moisture from the environment and hydrates your skin. At the same time, brown sugar removes dead skin cells and returns glow to the skin.

Smaller particles in the texture of the brown sugar make it safer for the skin use than white sugar. If you have sensitive skin, brown sugar is definitely recommended for you as white sugar granules can irritate your skin.

Glycolic acid in the brown sugar fights the bacteria.
