Notorious gangster Dawood Ibrahim was hospitalised in Karachi.
Reports have suggested that he was poisoned and is facing serious health complications. However, there is no confirmation that Ibrahim has been poisoned.
It is reported that Ibrahim has been in hospital for two years.
Ibrahim is believed to be the only patient on the hospital floor, with only senior authorities and close family members having access.
On social media, people are speculating that he has been poisoned by an “unknown man”.
Some users even wondered if the fugitive was dead.
After reports came to light, internet services in Pakistan went down.
Although there is a lot of speculation that Dawood Ibrahim was poisoned, the Indian and Pakistani authorities have not spoken about the alleged matter.
For years, the Indian authorities have said they believe Dawood Ibrahim has been living in Karachi’s Clifton area.
However, Pakistan has been dismissing claims that they are sheltering the wanted fugitive. Pakistan has also denied his presence in the country.
In January 2023, his nephew Alishah Parkar told the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that the gangster married a Pakistani woman and settled in Karachi.
According to Parkar, Ibrahim remarried while still being married to his first wife.
In a statement, Alishah said: “Dawood Ibrahim has a second wife, a Pakistani Pathan.
“Her name is Maizabin. He has three daughters Marukh (married to Junaid, son of Javed Miandad), Mehrin (married), and Maziya (unmarried), and one son Mohin Nawaz (married).”
His statement went on to say that he met Ibrahim’s first wife in July 2022 in Dubai.
Parkar claimed that he stayed at Zaitoon Hamid Antulay’s house.
The statement added:
“Dawood’s wife Maizabin calls my wife even on festivals, talks to my wife through WhatsApp calls.”
Dawood Ibrahim is the mastermind of the 1993 Mumbai blasts, where over 250 people were killed and thousands were injured.
In 2003, the Indian and US governments declared Ibrahim a “global terrorist”.
Dawood Ibrahim and his infamous D-Company have established a special unit to strike terror in the people of India by attacking eminent personalities, including political leaders and businesspersons.
According to the 10th edition of the Global Terrorism Index (GIT), Dawood Ibrahim and his D-company still control several criminal activities in Mumbai, including trafficking drugs, arms and counterfeiting.
The report also cited that the criminal outfit has strong links with global terrorist groups.
