"It’s not just about being Mrs Shahrukh Khan, but about the work I do"
Gauri Khan is renowned for being the better half of Bollywood superstar, Shahrukh Khan. However, the beautiful woman is not just a celebrity wife, but also a tremendously talented interior designer.
Through her company, Gauri Khan Designs, the successful entrepreneur is considered to be amongst the top designers in India.
She has previously designed spaces for Bollywood’s A-lister celebrities, including Ranbir Kapoor’s apartment and a nursery for Indian film director and good friend Karan Johar’s twins, Yash and Roohi.
Over the years, Gauri has accompanied her megastar husband, Shahrukh Khan, at various award functions and cheered for him as he won accolades.
However, this time the spotlight was on her when she recently attended the Hello Hall Of Fame Awards 2018 and was honoured with the Excellence in Design Award.
Gauri appeared on stage to receive the award from her close friend, Karan Johar. It was certainly a special moment and hence the mother of three dedicated the award to her loving husband.
In her acceptance speech, Gauri said:
“For the last 30 years, I have attended so many award functions with my husband and this is the first time that I have received an award and he is sitting right here. This one is for you.”
Shahrukh notably played the supportive husband role and could be seen joyously sitting in the audience. When Gauri went on stage, he stood up and was seen cheering for his beloved wife.
Later, Gauri also took to Twitter to thank Hello Magazine India for the Excellence in Design Award she received.

Not long ago, Gauri had spoken about making King Khan proud of her work.
She previously stated in a media interview: “I’m sure I will reach a position in my life where people will understand it’s not just about being Mrs Shahrukh Khan, but about the work I do. It may take a few years but I’m ready to wait. I want people to know we mean business.”
Now that Gauri’s hard work has paid off, SRK could not be prouder.
The talented interior designer has seen work blossom over the last few years.
Gauri even managed to take her brand international after collaborating with Ralph Lauren. And not many know that she also conceptualised Cirque Le Soir’s India debut. It is one of London’s most popular nightclubs.
Interestingly, interiors and architecture have been a common interest among both Shahrukh and Gauri. She had previously stated if Khan was not an actor, they would have been in the same field:
“Shahrukh himself, if he wasn’t an actor, would probably have liked to become an architect or interior designer. He’s totally into buying property, building and decorating… very passionate about it.
“I have no doubt that if he was given any space, especially an office, he would make the swankiest one ever, much better than I ever could! Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the time to do this, but he does have the vision,” Gauri told Karan Johar for HT Brunch.
