Gandii Baat contained explicit scenes featuring underage girls.
A case has been filed against Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor for inappropriate content involving minors in the series Gandii Baat.
The case specifically concerns an episode in the sixth season.
It has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The web series is available on ALT Balaji, however, the contentious episode has been removed from the platform.
Police have confirmed that the complaint was officially lodged at MHB Police Station against Balaji Telefilms Limited, Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor.
The complaint cited violations of Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the IT Act, as well as Sections 13 and 15 of the POCSO Act.
The allegations assert that Gandii Baat contained explicit scenes featuring underage girls.
The series has released six seasons, with IMDb describing it as featuring “scintillating stories of murder mysteries” within the erotic thriller genre.

Directed by Sachin Mohite, Gandii Baat explores complex emotional landscapes and criminal behaviour.
It was available on platforms like ZEE5 and MX Player. However, it was pulled from these services in response to new government regulations concerning adult content on OTT platforms.
Legal implications surrounding child pornography have heightened following a ruling by the Supreme Court of India recently.
It stated that possessing such material is an offence under POCSO and IT laws, regardless of whether it is shared.
As of now, Ekta Kapoor has not released a statement regarding the matter.
Back in September 2022, arrest warrants were also issued for Ekta Kapoor and her mother concerning their web series XXX.
The charges stemmed from allegedly insulting soldiers and offending the sentiments of their families in the show’s second season.
When XXX premiered in 2020, it faced significant backlash from viewers, prompting the hashtag #ALTBalajiInsultsArmy to trend on X.
The controversy escalated to the point where an FIR was lodged at the Annapurna police station. It cited multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the IT Act.
The complainant stated that he filed a complaint after witnessing what he perceived as the objectionable use of the national emblem.
Ekta Kapoor’s latest film, Love Sex Aur Dhokha 2 (LSD 2), directed by Dibakar Banerjee, was released in theatres on April 19, 2024.
