"This isn’t the end of it."
The latest episode of EastEnders ended on quite a literal cliffhanger that saw Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) take action against Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman).
EastEnders has previously teased an impending feud between the Mitchell and Panesar families.
That storyline kicked off in the latest episode of EastEnders, which is set to air on October 21, 2024.
In scenes already uploaded to BBC iPlayer, viewers saw Davinder ‘Nugget’ Gulati (Juhaim Rasul Choudhary) grow suspicious of his sister, Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James).
Nugget saw his sister use the word ‘condoms’ in her text messaging, and he demanded to know what was going on.
As Avani tried to brush off Nugget’s concern, their parents, Ravi and Priya Nandra-Hart (Sophie Khan Levy), saw them fighting.
The family were unaware that Avani’s older boyfriend, Mason (Alex Draper), had been pressurising the underage teenager to have sex with him.
Later, on a bench, Avani and Barney were sitting together.
Avani told Barney: “If anyone asks, we spent the afternoon together.”
Noticing his daughter was not at school, Ravi came over and confiscated her phone.
He tried to enlist Priya’s help in gaining access to Avani’s texts but agreed when Priya told him that Avani would hold it against him.
Priya knows that Avani planned to have sex but is under the impression that her partner is Barney.
Therefore, she told Ravi that Avani and Barney were dating.
As Ravi and Priya shared a tender moment, they were interrupted by Zack Hudson (James Farrar).
Away from the Square, Avani met up with Mason but could not go through with having sex with him.
An angry Mason threw Avani out of his car, which resulted in a large bruise on her face.
Ravi was shocked to see the state of his daughter, and Nugget admitted that he had seen Avani text someone under the name of M.
Ravi mistakenly deduced that ‘M’ stood for Mitchell, and thus, his rage became directed towards Barney.
The businessman found an innocent Barney in the Square.
Unaware of what had happened to Avani, Barney kept up the pretence and falsely confirmed to Ravi that he had been with her.
However, as he noticed that he could be in trouble, Barney ran off, but Ravi caught up with him.
Ravi said to the teenager: “Let’s go for a walk.”
In the episode’s final scene, Ravi was seen bundling Barney on top of the viaduct in the Square.
He then proceeded to dangle Barney from the side of the bridge as the teenager screamed for help.
This will lead to Ravi making an enemy in Barney’s father, Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian).
Teasing the new storyline, Aaron said: “[Ravi]’s main drive is to get Barney to confess.
“Obviously, Barney is telling the truth, but this infuriates Ravi even more as he thinks he is lying, so as the situation unfolds, Ravi just gets further and further into this spectacle of interrogation.”
Detailing his excitement about the feud, Aaron continued:
“What I was excited about, and what I hope the fans will get excited about, is that we’re finally going to see the Panesars go against the Mitchells and vice versa.
“Can you say Ravi is the head of the family?
“No, not the Panesars but possibly his own family and you’ve obviously got Teddy, who is the head of his subset of the Mitchells with Harry and Barney.
“These are two men that are leaders.”
“There’s an understanding between the two of them, in terms of how they handle things, doing dodgy things and talking in a particular language.
“I think both parties feel, ‘Well, you took something from me, so I’m going to take something from you’.
“They’re going to deal with things in their way. Ravi is the type of character who forgives but never forgets. This isn’t the end of it.”
EastEnders continues on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
