"As far as I know, it's not my fault"
Director Joy Sarkar publicly accused Bangladeshi actress Eamin Haque Bobby of failing to fulfil her commitment to the film Amar Hridoyer Kotha.
The director claimed that she accepted a signing fee of Tk 4 lakh but did not provide any schedule for shooting.
This accusation sparked significant controversy.
Sarkar stated: “Bobby took a Tk 4 lakh signing fee for Amar Hridoyer Kotha, but later, she did not follow through with the project.
“This resulted in a Tk 30 lakh loss for the producer.”
Despite the film being officially launched at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and produced by Fatema Kothachitra, filming never commenced.
In response to Sarkar’s claims, Bobby has now defended herself, stating:
“When I signed the movie, I gave them three shooting dates, but they couldn’t proceed.
“As far as I know, it’s not my fault; it was a failure on the part of the director and producers.”
She emphasised that she had reminded them about the shoot, but their inability to move forward led to the current situation.
Bobby added: “This was four or five years ago. At that time, the film was supposed to be shot abroad.
“I had heard rumours about human trafficking linked to this team, so I even warned them.
“After that, I never heard from them again. What’s being said now is untrue.”
In June 2024, Bobby became embroiled in a legal controversy involving accusations of theft and assault.
Muhammad Sakib Uddoja filed a case against her, claiming she and her associate Mirza Abul Bashar assaulted him.
Sakib explained that the issues began when Aman, who rented a restaurant from them, brought Bobby and Bashar into the business as partners.
Disputes over dishonoured cheques and accusations of theft complicated matters, leading to physical confrontations and legal proceedings.
As both parties navigated this contentious landscape, Eamin Haque Bobby and Bashar filed counter-suits.
The footage obtained by the media depicted Bashar being dragged and assaulted.
Following this incident, Bobby visited the scene, which led the building owners to file a case against her.
Bashar maintained that their legal issues arose from the building owners’ false accusations and inadequate documentation.
In July 2024, Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam said:
“Both parties visited the station. There is a dispute between the landlord and tenant. Both are out on bail and want to settle the matter.”
