UK-based artists DJ LYAN and Khushi K have released their new single ‘Lost’, a club-ready anthem blending tradition with innovation.

Released on May 29, 2025, ‘Lost’ combines Punjabi folk vocals with UK Garage and electronic beats to explore identity and longing.

The single follows the success of their chart-topping collaboration ‘Kokka’ and is released under the DESI TRILL label.

DJ LYAN said: “It’s great to work with Khushi again, she has a super distinct voice that I’m a massive fan of that feels traditional but with a modern vibe to it.

“For ‘Lost’, I wanted to take an iconic Punjabi folk song and give it that UKG (UK garage) flavour.

“This one’s for the dance floor but still feels culturally rooted.”

Khushi K delivers a haunting vocal performance in Punjabi that flows seamlessly with DJ LYAN’s sharp production.

Together, they sample ‘Laung Gawacha’, a classic Punjabi folk song, to reimagine it for a new generation of South Asian club-goers.

The single targets British South Asians and global diaspora audiences looking for music that reflects their cultural duality.

It blends old and new to speak to a generation shaped by both heritage and global influence.

Backed by DESI TRILL, a label pushing cross-cultural South Asian music, ‘Lost’ is another milestone in DJ LYAN’s mission to bring UK Garage into the South Asian mainstream.

The track also continues Khushi K’s rise as a leading voice in Punjabi music.

From East London, DJ LYAN’s music fuses traditional South Asian sounds with contemporary Western music.

He explained that South Asian music’s renewed interest is similar to other cultural trends, such as South America with Reggaeton and Africa with Afrobeat.

He said:

“This cultural wave signifies more than a fleeting trend.”

“It establishes South Asian music as a significant and lasting component of the global music landscape.”

On Punjabi music making its mark on the global stage as a genre of its own, DJ LYAN says it is due to the widespread music distribution platforms like Spotify and YouTube, which have amplified its reach.

“The genre’s infectious energy and cultural appeal, collaborations with international artistes, and integration into Bollywood have bolstered its popularity worldwide.

“Social media and a strong global diaspora further contribute to its popularity.”
