"Desi Trill is built on inclusion."

We live in an era where global music is interconnected like never before, and Desi Trill is set to embrace that bond.

New artists, genres, and different landscapes are continuously emerging in music.

As the world celebrates South Asian Heritage Month (SAHM), the renowned musicians Shabz Naqvi and Ty-Ty Smith are leading diversity.

Shabz and Ty-Ty have co-founded Desi Trill, which always seeks to redefine musical boundaries.

The company proudly honours South Asian heritage and culture.

Blending the past with the future introduced a new genre that melds hip-hop with R&B.

As a result, listeners can enjoy a unique and transformative musical experience, transcending traditional genres.

Desi Trill is distributed globally by Universal Music Group and it envisions a future where South Asian artists can achieve widespread recognition.

Shabz and Ty-Ty have worked in the music industry for over 20 years. Ty-Ty is famous for being the road manager of the popular artist Jay Z.

He also played a key role in developing the careers of singers including Rihanna and Ne-Yo.

Meanwhile, Shabz became a music producer at the age of 16. He went on to be a member of So Solid Crew – a successful hip-hop collective group.

The musicians met in 2010 when Shabz joined Roc Nation. as an A&R executive.

Ty-Ty delved into the criteria for signing new artists.

He explained: “Our advice to our artists is to ‘always just be unapologetically you’.

“We are here to support them. For us, it’s really about building the community.

“That’s how hip hop, R&B and rock and roll grew—they all started from a small community of people who shared a similar mindset and resonated with the music.”

At the same time, Shabz shed light on finding regional musicians and rappers.

He said: “I’ll say look out for DJ Lyan who’s going to be coming out with his debut EP, ‘Thank You Come Again’.

“On that, he has an incredible surprise with (Malayalam rapper) Baby Jean who is from South India.”

“I’ll say Desi Trill is built on inclusion and everyone is welcome.”

Rolling Stone commented on the ethos of the company and said:

“Desi Trill music aims to combine hip-hop, South Asian sounds, and more to reflect the rising Desi musicianship that Smith and Shabz feel is ready to take over the world.”

Brown Girl Magazine added: “Desi Trill is paving the way for an entirely new genre of music.”
