"Of course, he used to find it amusing as well."

Mahira Khan opened up about her experience of shooting romantic scenes with Shah Rukh Khan.

She made her Bollywood debut in the 2017 film Raees.

The movie was a commercial success and received positive reviews from critics. Mahira’s performance was praised and she gained recognition in India.

Despite her on-screen chemistry with SRK being well-received by fans, Mahira initially felt apprehensive about the intimate scenes in the song ‘Zaalima’, especially with her “no kissing rule”.

During the All About Movies podcast with Anupama Chopra, the Humsafar star revealed that while filming ‘Zaalima’, she wanted to draw some boundaries and not do anything that would be deemed “objectionable”.

Mahira said: “I was scared that we don’t cross the line because I didn’t want to do anything objectionable.”

She further added that everyone on set, including Shah Rukh Khan, made fun of her for it.

Mahira recalled: “You can’t kiss me. Since you can’t kiss me here, you can’t do this.

“Of course, he used to find it amusing as well.”

According to Mahira, Shah Rukh would say:

“I’m not sure what we have to do in the next scene.”

Despite her apprehensions, the crew decided on a kiss that worked for both of them.

Laughing about the memory, Mahira said:

“We didn’t know what to do in the hook step of ‘Zaalima’, and it became a joke that since nothing else can happen, they should go for nose-to-nose kissing.

“If you watch closely, Shah Rukh Khan merely does a small nose thing throughout the entire song.

“He said, ‘Will this be alright? Is this all okay with you?’ and in my heart, I was like, ‘What do you know?’”

While hesitant initially, Mahira Khan eventually warmed up to the idea of the kiss.

Raees was my first film, and I was shy. I didn’t know how it worked, but in the end, it was okay.”

“It’s just a happy memory now.”

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees was a commercial success.

The song ‘Zaalima’ continues to rule audiences even today.

Mahira Khan made her acting debut in 2011 with the TV show Neeyat and gained popularity with her portrayal of Khirad in the blockbuster drama Humsafar.

She has since acted in several hit television dramas, including Shehr-e-Zaat, Sadqay Tumhare and Bin Roye.
