Mahira Khan received criticism when sharing her favourite Raees scene filmed with Shah Rukh Khan.
The actress interacted with fans on Twitter with the hashtag #askmahira.
One fan asked: “Which scene you love to do with srk sir again and again #askmahira.”
Mahira replied with a loved-up picture of herself and SRK from the film. She cheekily wrote:
“This! ;)”
However, the picture led to backlash among some social media users.
One said: “This is inappropriate and unacceptable. You have a million followers and what the heck are you promoting?”
Another said: “Work in Pakistani movies… we in India don’t want you to spoil our movies.”
A third commented: “All Pakistani people hyping her reply, as if it’s some achievement, are equally cringe.
“So low and no class at all being a woman herself and seeking attention like this.”
This isn’t the first time Mahira Khan has been criticised for openly speaking about Shah Rukh Khan.
In an interview in June 2022, the star was asked to compare how working with Fahad Mustafa was different to her experience with Shah Rukh Khan.
Fans were open in their criticism of Mahira’s “fan-girl” moment.
A YouTube comment stated: “I know SRK is a legend but Mahira is overrated… She doesn’t know how to respect the team she is in.
“She gets a Bollywood movie and she doesn’t know how to answer…
“An actress like Saba Hameed would never answer like that; she would have cheered Fahad too.”
Another said:
“She worked with SRK and made it her whole existence.”
Despite being a prominent actress in Pakistan, Mahira believes her biggest achievement is working with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan.
In 2016, Mahira Khan recalled her and her family’s reaction to achieving a role in Raees alongside Shah Rukh Khan, beginning her debut journey in Bollywood.
“What happened at my house was very funny.
“I rounded up everyone- my mom, my dad, my brother. It was late at night, I told them ‘there is this film I want to do in India’.
“Everyone was like… no one cared. Pappa was like ‘tell us more’, Amma was like, ‘really?’
“Then I told them ‘It is with Shah Rukh Khan’ and my mother started crying.
“When I repeated that it was Shah Rukh Khan, she told me that I was lying. ‘Shah Rukh Khan is your …’ she said while crying and I told her ‘yes’.”
