"Sanu Da is in the heart of all Indian people."

A video went viral allegedly showing Kumar Sanu dedicating a song to former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The singer’s image was seen onstage in the clip.

In the video, Kumar’s voice sang: “We will free Imran Khan.

“We will raise our voices against cruelty.

“We will make a new Pakistan.”

Imran Khan served as the 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan from August 2018 to August 2022.

In May 2023, Khan was arrested due to corruption charges leading to protests throughout Pakistan.

On January 30, 2024, Khan was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being convicted.

On February 3, Khan and his wife were convicted and sentenced to seven more years in prison for breaching Islamic marriage laws.

Kumar Sanu took to his Instagram profile to clarify the video clip.

The singer asserted that the video had been created using AI.

He also accused people of trying to defame him.

Kumar wrote: “I want to clarify that I have never sung any song for Pakistan’s former Prime Minister.

“The audio circulating on Facebook is not my voice – it has been created using AI.

“Some people are trying to defame me, and that’s why I want to tell my fans that this news is fake a lie!

“This is a serious misuse of technology, and I urge the government of India to take immediate action to prevent the abuse of AI and deepfake technology.

“Let’s stop the spread of misinformation.”

Fans rushed to express their support for Kumar underneath his post.

One user said: “First of all, Sanu Da is in the heart of all Indian people and also many people of the world for his heart-touching voice.

“The person who created this offensive video should be punished, as the concept of the song may interrupt the relationship between the two countries.

“Secondly, watching with a naked eye for a moment, it clearly seems that the audio and videos are mismatched.

“This video is made with a superimposing concert video of an Australia tour of our great Sanu Da.

“Last of all, we love Sanu Da’s real voice and not an AI voice.”

Another fan added: “We trust you and pay no attention to any rumours until it is officially confirmed on the official page.”

Kumar Sanu was recently in the headlines for complaining that he only receives love from the industry and no work.

He said: “The biggest thing is that people give me respect, and love and even listen to my songs.

“I don’t know why they are not using my voice for more songs in Hindi films.

“When they are showing so much love when I am in front of them, why not make me sing too?

“I don’t know if it is real or not. Whatever it may be, they definitely give respect for sure.”

Deepfakes have been ravaging Bollywood celebrities in recent months.

Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt have all been targets of deepfakes and AI material.

Meanwhile, Kumar enjoyed his best years of playback singing in the 1990s and 2000s.

Some of his most popular numbers include ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’, ‘Mera Dil Bhi‘, and ‘Ab Tere Bin’.

From 1991 to 1995, Kumar Sanu was the consecutive winner of the ‘Best Male Playback Singer’ Filmfare Award.
