Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul were subjected to trolling after it was claimed that they visited a London strip club together.
The couple are in the UK as the cricketer continues to recover from thigh surgery, which ruled him out of the IPL.
However, a viral video has grabbed a lot of attention.
The video shows a packed club that is only lit with dark red strobe lighting.
Netizens believed it was a strip club as a woman dressed in lingerie was dancing onstage. Meanwhile, a bearded man was seen looking on.
Social media users believed it was KL Rahul.
It is believed that Athiya was also there as another reveller posted a picture inside the same club and wrote:
“KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty in the house.”
This led to trolling on social media.
One user wrote: “What kind of newly married honeymoon phase is this?
“Not questioning anyone’s individual choices but find it a bit weird.”
Another commented: “Shubman making his 3rd century, Rahul watching his 3rd dance.”
One disappointed netizen said:
“People could argue whatever they want but a committed person going to a strip club to see naked girls is disgusting.
“If the partner knows about it then damn the relationship is genuinely f****d up.”
Others felt there was nothing wrong with it.
One person said: “What is so wrong with visiting a strip club? People watch porn too is that also considered wrong.”
Another stated: “His wife is also there on a vacation with him. If she doesn’t have any problem who are we to judge.”

The video prompted an angry Athiya to hit back at the strip club claims.
She wrote:
“I usually choose to be silent and not react, but sometimes it is important to stand up for yourself.”
“Rahul, I and our friends went out to a regular place as one does.
“Stop taking things out of context, and check your facts before reporting. Peace and love.”
After her clarification, her fans came out in support of the couple.
One person said: “One of them has to speak up the way Athiya did. These losers aren’t stopping any time soon but the positive thing is many people are speaking on this so it’s a relief.”
Another added: “Athiya feeling the need to justify her and her husband going out like normal human beings is horrible, being a known personality is so tiring.”
The couple attended LUXX CLUB LONDON, which is a nightclub that features dancers onstage.
