“It was inspired by it, to say the least.”

Hina Bayat has suggested that Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan’s show Satyamev Jayate was inspired by her show Geo Hina Ke Saath.

During a recent appearance on Ushna Shah’s After Hours, Hina revealed striking similarities between her original concept and Aamir’s acclaimed show.

The veteran actress discussed how her programme addressed taboo societal issues, with an interactive set she designed herself.

It paved the way for meaningful conversations on screen.

Reflecting on the similarities, Hina shared: “When my show started, there weren’t many shows that discussed psychological or taboo issues.

“If there is a problem, then talking about it might help ten other people.

“This was my motivation behind the show.

“In fact, I designed the set myself so that it would be interactive for the audience sitting all around us.”

She went on to describe her reaction upon discovering Satyamev Jayate:

“One day we found out that Aamir Khan was doing a show, and when we saw it, everyone was like, ‘This is our set. This is our content’.”

While stopping short of directly accusing the Bollywood star, Hina remarked:

“It was inspired by it, to say the least.”

Recently, Hina also found herself embroiled in controversy over her comments on modern fashion in Pakistan.

Videos of Hania Aamir and Yashma Gill dancing at a wedding in contemporary outfits went viral, drawing both praise and criticism.

Hina Bayat commented: “I was wondering if people have forgotten something called a kameez.”

Her statement sparked backlash, including a response from former Sindh Assembly member Sharmila Faruqui.

Sharmila defended the actresses, urging Hina to “live and let live”.

She wrote in an Instagram Story: “Stop judging women with their choice in clothing. If that’s the case, then all men should wear sherwanis and not suits.”

In the wake of criticism, Hina clarified her statement in a video.

The actress explained that her comment was about the declining use of traditional attire.

Hina addressed social media platforms for spreading out-of-context narratives, saying:

“These pages get views but also hurt the feelings of the personalities they associate the statements with.”

Hina questioned why her remarks were interpreted as an attack, emphasising that she had no intention of judging anyone.

Hina Bayat concluded by expressed a wish for harmony and understanding, praying for everyone’s guidance and protection from negativity.
