Could Amir Khan be on Strictly Come Dancing 2025?

Amir Khan could be swapping the boxing ring for the ballroom, after revealing he’s been asked to take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

The former I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here contestant made the surprise admission during an interview with Betway.

The BBC’s hit dance show will return this September, but the celebrity line-up for the 2025 series is yet to be announced.

Khan said: “I have been asked to do Strictly Come Dancing, so maybe I would do that.

“I have previously been asked to do Celebrity MasterChef recently, but I couldn’t do the filming for it at the time.”

The 37-year-old, who retired from boxing in 2022, added that he enjoys being part of TV shows when he gets the time.

“There are a lot of shows but it’s hard to get the time. At the same time, I like doing shows. People get to see the real side of me and who you are.

“Let’s see what happens but I am always down for doing things but only the top shows.

“I’ve done a lot of the top shows like I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Here twice and in my opinion, it’s the biggest show out there; it is massive.”

While he hasn’t confirmed his participation, Amir Khan’s interest has stirred speculation as the BBC prepares to reveal this year’s celebrity contestants.

The 2025 edition of Strictly will feature professional dancers Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez and Luba Mushtuk.

They’ll be joined by Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Aljaž Škorjanec, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, Michelle Tsiakkas and Vito Coppola.

Reflecting on fellow boxers appearing on reality TV, Amir Khan said:

“Ricky Hatton did Dancing on Ice.”

“As boxers, you have good footwork, but I can’t ice skate so I’m thinking I need to learn how to ice skate first and then maybe I can (do it).

“I took my kids to the ice rink, and I watched. I was thinking ‘I couldn’t do it’.

“But if they taught me how to skate first then sure, I would do it. But who knows…”

Strictly Come Dancing marked its 20th anniversary in 2024 and remains one of the BBC’s flagship entertainment shows.
