"classic British panto fun with a vibrant Desi twist"
A British South Asian pantomime, Surinderella, is set to embark on a UK tour this autumn.
Produced by Rifco Theatre Company and Wolverhampton Grand Theatre in association with Imagine Theatre and Watford Palace Theatre, the show will blend British panto traditions with a vibrant Desi twist.
The tour begins at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from September 23-27 before moving to Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch from September 30 to October 5.
It then visits Theatre Royal Windsor from October 7-11 and concludes at Watford Palace Theatre from October 21-25.
Written by Pravesh Kumar and directed by Ameet Chana, Surinderella is set in the Bolly-Woods, where dance is non-stop, drama is grand, and romance is straight out of a Bollywood blockbuster.
The story follows Surinder, a sweet yet strong protagonist, burdened by endless chores from her selfie-obsessed stepsisters, Lovely and Bubbly.
Her only support is Basanti, a cow with plenty of attitude.
Meanwhile, Prince Kavi faces immense family pressure to marry.
A chance encounter with Surinder sparks an instant connection. With the help of the dazzling Devi Godmother, magic, makeovers, and a Bollywood Ball set the stage for an unforgettable journey.
Pravesh Kumar MBE, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Rifco Theatre Company, said:
