"She is not as much of a performer as the likes of Shayne."
Dr Punam Krishan and Gorka Marquez became the latest pair to be voted out of Strictly Come Dancing.
The Scottish medic has experienced highs and lows throughout the dance competition.
From making history with her Bollywood routine to ending up at the bottom of the leaderboard in week four, it has been a rollercoaster experience.
Punam and Gorka were in the dance-off against Shayne Ward and Nancy Xu as part of Halloween week.
Both couples took to the dancefloor with their routines again, with Punam and Gorka performing their Tango to Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams’.
Shayne and Nancy performed their Paso Doble to Edvard Grieg’s ‘In The Hall of The Mountain King’.
Following the dance-off, the judges voted unanimously to save Shayne and Nancy.
Giving his thoughts on Punam’s exit from the BBC show, former Strictly professional dancer Brendan Cole, who is currently working with Sky Vegas, exclusively told DESIblitz:
“[It was] definitely the right choice [Punam Krishan going home] in terms of the dance-off.
“Shayne and Nancy were better. Punam and Gorka didn’t do a bad dance.
“It was more because everybody else was just doing really well. It seemed like a big possibility that she was going to be in the bottom two.”
Brendan explained that Punam’s final dance suited her and had the dance-off been against another couple, she might still be on the show.
“It [Punam Krishan’s final dance] was good for her. It wasn’t a bad dance. The competition is quite strong.
“She is not as much of a performer as the likes of Shayne. As much as she did a nice dance, Shayne was by far the winner in terms of the dance-off.
“If it was against someone else, like Pete [Wicks] and Jowita [Przystal], who did a really nice dance, then there would be more of a competition and more jeopardy – or even Chris [McCausland] and Dianne [Buswell].
“If she’d been against Chris and Dianne, they probably would have seen Chris and Dianne home, because they both had 26 points from the night before.
“Chris and Dianne weren’t going to be in the dance-off, and probably won’t be ever.”
During her time on Strictly Come Dancing, Punam was a popular celebrity among viewers.
Sharing why, Brendan said: “People are genuinely interested in [the celebs] doing really good dances. Her [Punam Krishan’s] dancing was quiet.”
After being voted out, Punam said: “I am really proud of myself.
“You know I’ve taken on something that’s so out of my comfort zone.
“The one thing that I’ve very much learnt is to say yes more, and that there is no point in your life when you can stop learning new skills.
“I’ve learnt more than dancing, I’ve learnt so much from Gorka.”
“Everyone’s been so incredible and it’s just memories that I’ll take home forever and I am very proud. I’ve made my family very proud, I’m just really grateful.”
Ten celebrities remain and on who has the best chance of winning, Brendan Cole added:
“Jamie [Borthwick] still has the best chance of winning. He’s doing the best overall dancing.
“Tasha [Ghouri] is extremely good. She was probably undermarked for that [number].
She got one mark lower than both Sarah [Hadland] and Vito [Coppola] and Jamie and Michelle [Tsiakkas].
“She’s a better dancer, but for some reason, the judges are expecting her to be outstanding to get those good marks.”
