Are Viewers becoming Fed Up with ‘Tere Bin’?

Pakistani drama Tere Bin started 2023 strongly, however, viewers are seemingly becoming annoyed with the show’s storylines.

Following the 51st episode, there has been an uproar among fans, who have deemed the storyline pathetic and unbearable because of the sudden changes in character.

It saw Murtasim (Wahaj Ali) accuse his wife Meerab (Yumna Zaidi) of having an affair with Rohail, his closest friend.

The unexpected revelation sent shockwaves both onscreen and off-screen.

Viewers criticised the show, claiming that in the 21st century, it is unbelievable that a couple are unable to communicate with one another.

Viewers have also accused the writer, Nooran Makhdoom, of portraying the main leads as the most nondescript people.

In the past, Nooran received criticism for portraying Meerab to be the “bad girl”.

Members of the public have taken to social media to contest the writer’s supposed idea of love.

Many are assuming that the writer will show Meerab to be a girl of loose character, resulting in Murtasim marrying Haya.

The unexpected twist came under scrutiny and fans of the show went so far as to rename the drama as “Trash Bin”.

One viewer, speaking about the writer, stated there was no coming back for the story.

Another said: “I’ve been saying this for so long, it’s always been about ego.

“He thought Meerab was a shiny toy he couldn’t touch and when he did he’s over it.”

One angry person said: “End the show already! Please do it.”

Others stated that the sympathy that Murtasim is showing towards Haya is questionable.

The character of Haya, played by Sabeena Farooq, is said to be highlighting shamelessness and she must be found out.

One follower questioned the actions of both Murtasim and Haya, saying:

“Wow, now Haya also knows about Rohail, he told everyone about Rohail, but he didn’t speak a word against Haya.”

The main controversy surrounding Tere Bin is based on the fact that Haya, who is wreaking havoc with all members of the family, is getting away with her antics scot free and nobody is questioning her motives.

Ma Begum, played by legendary actress Bushra Ansari, has also come under fire for accusing Meerab of being in the wrong.

In the past, Tere Bin has faced backlash for its questionable storylines and the logic of the characters.

The infamous ‘marital rape‘ episode led some fans to believe it was edited by the makers to save face.

The episode depicted that the couple consummated their marriage – breaching their no-intimacy contract – and then regretted it.

The couple had afterthoughts about what transpired.

Some believed that Meerab’s distraught appearance meant that a marital rape did indeed take place while others found it hard to believe that consensual sex would end up like this.

Despite its flaws, Tere Bin continues to be one of the most-watched shows in Pakistan.
