"Ananya denied the supply related talks"
Ananya Panday has denied helping Aryan Khan get drugs after being questioned by India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The Bollywood actress appeared before the NCB for the second time on Friday, October 22, 2021, and was accompanied by her veteran actor father Chunky Pandey.
It comes after Panday’s home in Bandra, Mumbai, was raided by the bureau after her name was allegedly seen in the WhatsApp chats of one of the accused in Aryan Khan’s ongoing drugs case.
Her laptop and phones were seized and she was questioned by the NCB for two hours on Thursday, October 21, 2021, after being one of those targeted in six searches in the past few days.
A spokesperson for the agency said:
“We have seized both phones of Ananya Panday, which includes an old handset as well as the phone she purchased a few months ago.
“The phones have been seized to check evidence of tampering.”
It also came after the NCB submitted message exchanges between Khan and an “upcoming Bollywood actress” to a Mumbai court on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
According to India Today sources, Panday was shown chats where Khan had asked whether she could arrange to get him drugs, thought to be marijuana in particular.
In the messages, she had replied: “I will raise.”
But during questioning, she insisted that she had been only joking and maintained that she had never supplied or consumed any narcotics.
However, the NCB said that Panday and Khan regularly talked about drugs on WhatsApp.
An NCB source said: “The chats recovered from Aryan Khan’s mobile phone reveal that in the year 2018-19, she helped supply drugs to Aryan thrice by providing him with the numbers of drug dealers.
“Ananya denied the supply related talks in the chat conversation and told the NCB officials that she has never consumed or supplied the drugs.”
Khan has been held in Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail since Friday, October 8, 2021, and was recently visited by his superstar father Shah Rukh Khan for the first time.
It comes after he was denied bail for the third time with #NoBailOnlyJail trending on Twitter in the past, calling for him to remain behind bars.
Khan was arrested after a Cordelia Cruises ship making its way to Goa was targeted in a raid.
Various substances including cocaine, MDMA and Mephedrone are all believed to have been consumed during a party aboard the ship.
Ananya Panday and Aryan Khan are part of a group of celebrity children who are known to socialise together. She and Khan’s sister Suhana are close friends.
