Ajay Devgn is due to hit the big screen opposite Saif Ali Khan in Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero (2020).

Audiences will witness Ajay morph into Tanaji Malusare, the forgotten warrior of the Maratha army. He fought alongside the King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the founder of the Maratha Empire.

Historically, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was one of the greatest rulers in India. He expanded his father’s army of 2000 soldiers to 10,000 soldiers.

Yet, many have forgotten his military leader Tanaji who fought bravely and tactfully to help overthrow the Mughal Empire.

The biographical period film will showcase the journey of Tanaji (Ajay) throughout his trials and tribulations.

In this instance, one of his greatest problems will be antagonist Uday Bhan, played by Saif, a Rajput official for the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

Filmmakers released two movie posters on October 21, 2019, each showing the look of Ajay and Saif’s characters.

Ajay is seen donning a red turban with a tilak marked on his forehead. In his hands, he carries a sword and looks fierce.

The actor took to Twitter to share the poster. He captioned it:

“MIND that was as sharp as a sword.”

The poster is a mixture of various film scenes. For example, warriors mounted on their horses and a battle scene during a war.

In addition, Saif looks menacing in the second poster. He sports Kohl eyes and a dark beard. He is also seen holding a sword in his hands, as he cunningly smiles.

Again, Ajay took to Twitter to post the visual of Saif’s character. The actor captioned it:

“MIGHT that cut deeper than a sword.”

It appears Ajay has successfully mastered the heroic persona, while Saif perfectly encapsulates the essence of a shrewd character.

According to media reports, Kajol will also feature in the film as Savitri Malusare.

She has shot a song sequence on a grand set decorated with intricate rangoli (traditional Indian patterns) and diyas (candles).  The scene was constructed in Mumbai’s Film City.

The film will be produced by Ajay alongside Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar.

Previously Tanhaji: The Unsung Hero was scheduled to release in 2019 but will be releasing on January 10, 2020.

Ajay and Saif were last seen together on the big screen with the hit film, Omkara (2006).

We look forward to seeing the mighty clash between Tanaji (Ajay) and Uday (Saif) explode on the big screen.
