Bollywood welcomes a set of new actors into the film industry each year, including star kids. Many of these newcomers come from famous families, where acting runs in their blood.

Whether it’s the Kapoor’s or the Khan’s, fresh faces are always waiting in the wings, ready to join the industry.

The year 2018 has been no exception, with several young actors taking Bollywood by storm.

Rajesh Khattar and Neelima Azeem’s son Ishaan Khatter made his debut in Majid Majidi’s Beyond the Clouds (2017).

Shahid Kapoor’s half-brother Ishaan also went on to star in Dhadak (2018) alongside fellow newbie Janhvi Kapoor.

Janhvi is the daughter of late actress Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor.

Adding to the line-up of new stars, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan makes her debut in Kedarnath (2018).

Anticipation is always high as to which actor’s offspring will enter Bollywood next.

DESIblitz presents 7 next-generation star kids that could emulate their parent’s success in Bollywood.

Ibrahim Ali Khan

7 Next Generation Star Kids that could take Bollywood by Storm - Ibrahim Ali Khan

Ibrahim Ali Khan is the spitting image of his father Saif Ali Khan. The 17-year old has plenty of family members he can look up to when it comes to acting.

Aside from his father, his mother Amrita Singh also chose acting as a career.

His grandmother is the veteran film actor Sharmila Tagore. After divorcing Amrita, Ibrahim’s father married actress Kareena Kapoor Khan in 2012.

Not to mention, his sister Sara Ali Khan has also joined the film scene.

Some would argue that Ibrahim has already made his debut in Bollywood. He starred as a young lad, playing his father’s character in Tashan (2008).

However, his appearance in the film was a one-off as he pursued education instead. Saif Ali Khan revealed that his son Ibrahim does have aspirations to join Bollywood.

According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, Saif says:

“All of them are planning to get into films; they feel it is the easiest thing to do.

“I have told Ibrahim to take it very seriously as very few people make it. I am concerned about what these kids will do.”

Saif continues:

“He is at a vague age right now, so let’s see. But as a father, I will support him whatever his decision may be.”

It seems like Ibrahim Ali Khan could be hot on the heels of his sister Sara Ali Khan.

Ananya Panday

Ananya Panday is the daughter of Indian film actor Chunky Panday. Panday senior has appeared in over 80 movies, with a career spanning over three decades.

Besides Hindi cinema, Chunky has also worked in Bangladeshi films.

And now his daughter Ananya will make her Bollywood debut in Student of the Year 2 alongside Tiger Shroff and fellow newcomer Tara Sutaria.

Interestingly, the prequel launched star kids such as Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, along with Sidharth Malhotra.

The fresh-faced 20-year old has already gained popularity prior to her debut film.

India’s biggest cosmetic brand Lakme signed Ananya as their youngest celebrity endorser.

The brand signed Ananya as a brand endorser for a lip care range due to her popularity amongst the youth.

Panday went on Twitter to share the exciting news.

“Super excited to be part of the lovely Lakme family! Thank you @lakmeindia #IndiasFavouriteBeautyBrand #AndMineToo.”

While Punit Malhotra is the director, Karan Johar is the producer for Student of the Year 2.

The film releases on May 10, 2019.

Aryan Khan

Aryan Khan is the son of Bollywood’s Badshah Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan.

Whilst his mother is an interior designer, his father Shah Rukh Khan is one of the biggest stars in Indian cinema.

Bearing an uncanny resemblance to his father, Aryan is already taking the world by storm with his dashingly good looks.

The 21-year old is studying filmmaking at the University of Southern California.

Interestingly, Aryan appeared in the opening credits of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) when he was just 4-years old.

He featured as a young Rahul Raichand, the character played by his father Shah Rukh.

Despite studying, various reports suggest that Aryan will make his debut soon.

A report in Deccan Chronicle states that Aryan will be making his debut with Khushi Kapoor, the youngest daughter of Sridevi (late) and Boney Kapoor.

The report also mentions that Karan Johar and Dharma Productions will launch the pair. Karan has already begun looking for interesting scripts.

However, there is no official announcement on this yet.

Ahan Shetty

Ahan Shetty is the son of actor Suniel Shetty and fashion designer Mana Shetty. There was speculation for a long time that the 22-year-old will join Bollywood too.

However, all these rumours came true with an official announcement.

Sajid Nadiadwala will launch Ahan with the remake of Telegu hit RX 100 (2018). Milan Luthria of Baadshaho (2018) fame will direct this film.

In October 2018, Ahan logged on Instagram to share news about his debut film. He said:

“Today marks a new chapter in my life. I’m so grateful and honoured to be a part of this amazing film and a part of the @nadiadwalagrandson family.

“I have a long tough journey ahead of me where I will experience both the highs and lows. I’ll need all your love and blessings to handle this with dignity, grace and honesty.

“Thank you for your support, it really means a lot. And I hope to make you very proud Sajid Sir.”

Ahan follows in the footsteps of his older sister Athiya Shetty who was launched by Salman Khan in Hero (2015).

Khushi Kapoor

7 Next Generation Star Kids that could take Bollywood by Storm - Khushi Kapoor

Khushi Kapoor comes from a family full to the brim of actors. Her mother Sridevi (late) is considered to be one of the biggest female superstars from India.

Her father Boney Kapoor and paternal grandfather Surinder Kapoor are famous Indian film producers of their time.

Khushi’s sister Janhvi Kapoor made her debut in Dhadak (2018). Half-brother Arjun Kapoor is also an actor, making his entry into Bollywood with Ishaqzaade (2012).

Her uncles include the ever so young Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.

In addition to the above, she has three acting cousins comprising of Sonam Kapoor, Harshvardhan Kapoor and Mohit Marwah.

Going by her family history, it seems the 18-year old Khushi has a tough act to follow.

If reports are to be believed, Karan Johar plans to launch Khushi alongside Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan.

In a report by Deccan Chronicle on August 27, 2018, a source reveals:

“Khushi will be launched sooner rather than later, and that too by Karan. He has taken over that responsibility from Boney.

“Though Khushi’s debut is being kept a well-guarded secret, they’ve already started looking for a suitable script.”

It won’t be long until a new Kapoor is in town.

Suhana Khan

Suhana Khan is the only daughter of Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan.

The 18-year old has become a hit online. She is regularly seen on her travels and hanging out with friends.

Similar to her older brother Aryan Khan, it is speculated that Suhana will join the film industry.

Whilst promoting Jab Harry Met Sejal (2017) Shah Rukh was quizzed about Suhana joining the movies.

When asked about whether he would help her along in the industry, SRK responded saying:

“I’ll just wish her well, I’ll pray for her, I’ll cry with her when she’s down and I’ll smile when she is happy, beyond that I don’t think of anything else.”

The Badshah of Bollywood adds:

“I would like her to do to theatre and move ahead in life, and be as wonderful and spaced out, different beat actor like Anushka Sharma.”

In her first-ever magazine shoot, Suhana landed herself on the front cover of Vogue, August 2018 issue.

In spite of being Shah Rukh’s daughter, this is an impressive feat.

Due to her ever-growing popularity and interest in performing, it won’t be long before Suhana joins Bollywood.

Yashvardhan Ahuja

7 Next Generation Star Kids that could take Bollywood by Storm - Yashvardhan Ahuja 1

Yashvardhan Ahuja is the son of actor Govinda. Although Govinda was a lead actor in films, he was also known for his dancing.

Yashvardhan could soon follow his father and break into films. The 20-year old has completed a year-long filmmaking course at London Met Film School.

To gain experience Yashvardhan is also working for Sajid Nadiadwala’s marketing team.

Showing a keen interest in film, Govinda’s son is working his way up the ranks. It surely won’t be too long until he signs his first film.

In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Yash was asked about his potential debut. He replied:

“Probably by 2019, I will make my debut.

“I do believe that people are going to compare me with dad, and I have to live up to expectations. So, of course, I’m taking my own time.”

Besides the aforementioned star kids, Shanaya Kapoor, Junaid Khan, Ira Khan, Navya Naveli Nanda and Ahaan Panday also look set to debut in Bollywood.

It has been argued that star kids are given favouritism as opposed to those who don’t come from filmy families.

Nepotism has become a widespread talking point in India.

Although star kids may be given opportunities, surely it is their hard work and talent that will keep them relevant.

This is the case if we talk about Alia Bhatt. The daughter of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan, Alia was launched by Karan Johar in Student of the Year (2012).

However, with sheer determination, Alia is one of the best actresses in modern-day Indian cinema.

Bhatt has gone on to show her acting abilities in films such as Highway (2014), Udta Punjab (2016) and Raazi (2018).

Let’s hope the next batch of exciting new stars will go on to become as big as Alia and change the face of the industry.
