On October 16, 2024, Liam Payne’s untimely death shocked fans and devastated many.
As part of the iconic boyband One Direction, Liam gained fame at a young age and was loved by millions.
One Direction was formed during The X Factor in 2010, and they entertained the world in memorable ways.
They ultimately embarked on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.
During a recent concert in Wolverhampton, the former One Direction member Zayn paid tribute to his late bandmate and friend.
Incidentally, Wolverhampton was Liam Payne’s hometown. The singer was born in the city’s Heath Town district.
While performing onstage, Zayn announced: “We’ve been doing something at the end of the show every night.
“It’s been dedicated to my brother, Liam Payne.”
As soon as Zayn uttered Liam’s name, the crowd erupted in cheers and whistles.
Zayn continued: “Rest in peace. I hope you’re seeing this.
“We’re in your hometown Wolverhampton tonight. This is for you, Liam.”
Zayn then proceeded to sing ‘It’s You‘.
Underneath the video clip of Zayn on X, one user commented: “Zayn is a pure soul. Love him.”
Another added: “It’s so weird hearing him say, ‘Liam Payne’ and ‘Rest in peace’ in the same sentence.
“I don’t think I’ll ever get over it.”
A third user said: “The way he spoke…you know he is still talking out loud to him.”
“We’ve been doing something at the end of the show every night, it’s been dedicated to my brother Liam Payne. Rest in peace. I hope you’re seeing this in your hometown tonight, Wolverhampton, this is for you Liam.”

In his recent shows, a blue display has also been seen in the background of Zayn’s performances.
The text read: “Liam Payne. 1993–2024. Love you, bro.”
Shortly after Liam’s death was announced, Zayn posted a statement on Instagram. He wrote:
“I lost a brother when you left us, and I can’t explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly.
“I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever.
“There are no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated.
“I hope that wherever you are right now, you are good and are at peace, and you know how loved you are.”
“Love you, bro.”
Liam’s funeral was held on November 20, 2024.
Alongside his family, attendees included Zayn and the other members of One Direction: Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, and Niall Horan.
Liam’s ex-girlfriend, Cheryl, with whom he shares a son named Bear, was also present.
His mentor from The X Factor, Simon Cowell, attended the funeral too.
At the time of his death, Liam was dating Kate Cassidy, who was there to pay her respects.
Liam Payne died aged 31 after falling from his hotel balcony in Argentina.
