"can we all agree Tyla is an absolute sensation."
Tyla kicked off December with the release of her music video for ‘Shake Ah’, a lively single featured on the deluxe edition of her debut album TYLA+.
‘Shake Ah’ includes collaborations with rising South African talents Tony Duardo, EZ Maestro and Optimist.
Together, they bring their South African vibrance to the streets of Rio de Janeiro.
The music video captures Tyla as the centrepiece of a high-energy dance party.
The four artists bring their unique cultural flair to South America and entertain the masses with a carnival-inspired party.
Throughout ‘Shake Ah’, Tyla brings sultriness to the party and towards the end, she dons an elaborate outfit adorned with feathers and jewels, uniting South African and Brazilian cultures in her own way.
Fans love the music video and Tyla’s presence as one said:
“Brazil loves you Tyla! Your visit to Brazil was an honour for us, and this music video turned out beautiful!”
Another wrote: “I’m sorry but can we all agree Tyla is an absolute sensation.”
A third commented: “Tyla really brought South African swag to Brazil! She’s the definition of Africa to the world!”
A comment read: “Go girl… Share the culture.”
With its infectious rhythm and vibrant setting, ‘Shake Ah’ solidifies Tyla’s reputation as the Queen of Popiano.
The artist is coming off the release of her hugely successful self-titled album.
The deluxe edition, TYLA+, was released on October 11, 2024, with three additional tracks.
She now appears to have started on the next phase of her career.
At the end of November, she released ‘Tears’ as a promotional single alongside Coke Studio.
The music sensation also announced a hometown show in Johannesburg on December 4.
To round off a massive year, which included winning a Grammy for Best African Music Performance, she will appear in Sabrina Carpenter’s Netflix special A Nonsense Christmas.
A Nonsense Christmas centres around Sabrina’s unique take on a traditional holiday variety show.
So as well as music, expect to see comedy sketches.
Viewers can expect live performances of Sabrina’s hits from her 2023 Fruitcake EP, reimagined Christmas classics and exciting duets.
On featuring in the festive special, Tyla said:
“It’s an honour to celebrate the holidays on such a big platform and to share this moment with incredible artists like Sabrina.”
