"Gigi reached out to Zayn."
On October 16, 2024, Liam Payne’s untimely death shocked the British music industry and millions of fans.
The singer died after falling from his balcony in Argentina at the age of 31.
He was famous for being part of the iconic boyband One Direction.
The group also formed Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan.
After Liam’s death, the rest of the members posted condolences on social media.
Zayn was reported to be “in bits” following the news. Now, it has emerged that his ex-girlfriend, Gigi Hadid, has been offering him her support.
According to Page Six, a source said: “Gigi reached out to Zayn to offer her condolences after Liam’s passing.
“[She] was there to listen and offered her support if Zayn needed anything at all or just wanted to talk.”
Liam Payne’s funeral was held on November 20, 2024, and all four former bandmates attended the service.
Along with them, Liam’s ex-girlfriend Cheryl was also present. In 2017, she and Liam had a son named Bear.
Detailing the equation at the funeral between the four singers, an insider shared:
“Of course, they all wanted to be there, they shared so much with Liam.
“But that doesn’t mean they are best friends anymore.
“They haven’t worked together for almost ten years – they have grown apart.”
One Direction was formed on The X Factor in 2010 after the five young men failed to cross the Bootcamp stage as solo artists.
The band did exceedingly well, finishing the competition in third place.
Zayn announced his departure from One Direction in 2015, and the band embarked on an indefinite hiatus the following year.
Meanwhile, Zayn and Gigi Hadid began dating in 2015, with Gigi appearing in Zayn’s ‘Pillow Talk‘ music video.
Their daughter was born in September 2020. In October 2021, Zayn entered a no-contest plea to four harassment charges against Gigi’s mother.
After the incident, Zayn and Gigi ended their relationship.
In the wake of Liam Payne’s death, Zayn also postponed several of his concerts, including his upcoming US tour.
After Liam’s death, Zayn said in a statement:
“I lost a brother when you left us, and I can’t explain to you what I’d give to just give you a hug one last time and say goodbye to you properly and tell you that I loved and respected you dearly.
“I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever.
“There are no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated.
“I hope that wherever you are right now, you are good and are at peace, and you know how loved you are.
“Love you, bro.”
