"My love and respect for her will always be the same.”
Indian composer Anu Malik has revealed why he hasn’t collaborated with filmmaker Farah Khan recently.
The pair last worked together on Main Hoon Na (2004) which Khan directed and Malik created the music for.
The film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Amrita Rao and Sushmita Sen and quickly became a Bollywood cult classic.
Malik recently featured as a special guest on the Zee Comedy Show on Zee TV which Khan appears as a judge on.
During the show, comedian Sanket Bhosale asked the pair why they have not worked together since 2004.
Khan replied: “Main Hoon Na’s music was so good that after the movie, I didn’t know how we both could top that.
“However, we have worked together on several reality shows, and we continue to share a great bond.”
Meanwhile, Malik responded: “I really think Farah is a wonderful filmmaker and I respect her.
“If she took me for a film, she must have thought about it and after that, she took the decision of having me on board for composing the music of Main Hoon Na.
“When she decided not to take me for a movie, she must have thought about all aspects too.
“My love and respect for her will always be the same.”
The son of famous music composer Sardar Malik and Bilqis Begum also shared how he was given his name on the show.
Malik, whose full name is Anwar Sardar Malik, said that legendary singer Asha Bhosle had suggested that he be called ‘Anu’ for short.
He explained: “When I was a kid, Asha Bhosle Ji had come to our home and she asked my father if she could call me Anu.
“My mother was also there and she told everyone that because Asha Ji has said this, from that day, everyone knows me as Anu Malik.
“Even my parents have called me Anu.”
The composer recently appeared as a judge on Indian Idol 12 which was won by Pawandeep Rajan after a grand finale on Sunday, August 15, 2021.
He was also joined by a series of other judges including Farah Khan, Sonu Nigam, Neha Kakkar and Himesh Reshammiya.
Anu Malik was previously accused of sexual harassment in 2018 and took some time off from the show that year before eventually returning after three weeks.
