"London dating hasn’t worked out for me."
The first batch of contestants for Love Island 2024 have been confirmed and among them is Munveer Jabbal.
Maya Jama will once again host the popular dating show, which will be filmed at the Majorcan villa.
Though January saw the first all-star season, bringing back memorable contestants from the past for a second (or third) shot at finding love, this summer it’s back to business as usual with completely fresh faces trying their luck in the villa.
Among those vying to take home the £50,000 prize is Munveer Jabbal, who was the second confirmed contestant.
We find out more about the Islander.
From Surrey, Munveer is a talent recruitment manager and according to his LinkedIn profile, he works at Bain & Company.
Munveer has worked in the role since November 2021.
Describing himself as a “niche recruitment specialist” focusing on data analytics and information/cyber security, Munveer’s bio states:
“I pride myself on a first-rate service to my clients and candidates which comes from a genuine passion and complete immersion within these fields.”
On why he chose to apply for Love Island, Munveer said:
“London dating hasn’t worked out for me.
“The opportunity to be surrounded by good-looking people in a villa under the sun is an absolute no-brainer!”
Munveer is no stranger to the glitz as he is close friends with Piers Morgan’s son Spencer, whom he met when he moved to Fulham in 2018.
At 30 years old, Munveer will be the oldest contestant at the start of Love Island 2024.
He said: “I’m 30 years old and I need to start thinking seriously about the next step, and what better place.”
On why he thinks he is single, Munveer explained:
“I haven’t found the right girl, I’m quite picky and have high standards.
“Dating in London is horrible.
“You don’t know who’s single… but now you’re putting me in a place where everyone’s single, so there’s no issues around that.”
He might be single but his birthday could be an asset when it comes to finding love as his X description reads:
“Munveer is a Valentine’s baby who hopes Cupid’s arrow will bless him in the Villa.”
For the first time, Love Island will be aired simultaneously across ITV1, ITV2 and ITVX.
A source said: “ITV want to throw their weight behind Love Island and make sure it has a big, glitzy moment when the 11th series kicks off next month.
“Showing it across every channel means creating what they hope will be a big TV moment.
“It shows there is still a real commitment to the format even nine years on.”
The launch show will start at 9 pm on June 3, 2024.
