"Bigg Boss OTT 2 came at the right time"
Akanksha Puri was announced as one of the contestants on Bigg Boss OTT 2.
But who is she and how did she get into the entertainment industry?
Born in 1988 in Madhya Pradesh, Akanksha grew up with a passion for acting and a dream of making it big in Bollywood.
She began her career as a model, appearing in several advertisements.
Akanksha soon caught the attention of filmmakers and she made her acting debut in the 2013 Tamil film Alex Pandian, starring opposite Karthi.
Although the film did not do well at the box office, Akanksha’s performance was appreciated and she gained recognition in the South Indian film industry, acting in Praise the Lord and Lodde.
In 2014, she made her Bollywood debut in Calendar Girls, which revolved around the lives of models featured in prestigious calendars and their journey in the glamour world.
Portraying Nandita Menon, Akanksha’s performance was praised.
Following Calendar Girls, Akanksha Puri appeared in the likes of Action.
Akanksha Puri has also appeared on television, gaining popularity as Parvati in the mythological series Vighnaharta Ganesh.
Her depiction of the goddess won her a massive fan following.
Away from acting, Akanksha is known for her beauty and frequently shares her looks with her 2.7 million Instagram followers.
Prior to entering Bigg Boss OTT 2, Akanksha Puri stated that reality TV has always been on her mind but the timings never matched.
She said: “If one has to be on a reality show, what is bigger than Bigg Boss?
“I would have said yes to the show long back but they always came quite late to me, when I was already committed to something else.
“Bigg Boss OTT 2 came at the right time and I could manage my schedule. I am now excited about this new journey.”
She revealed that her only challenge is living with strangers in the same house because she has lived alone for the past 15 years.
She continued: “I don’t know how I will handle that. I have never had a roommate, flatmate, or even a line-in relationship. I even ask my househelps to go home at night.
“I like my own space and that is the only worrying part for me.”
Akanksha’s personal life has been in the spotlight, with rumours circulating that she is dating Mika Singh.
Responding to the speculation, Akanksha said:
“He is very special to me, and it’s a topic close to my heart.”
Akanksha entered Swayamvar: Mika Di Vohti as a wildcard and went on to win the show.
But both have insisted that they are “just friends”.
Akanksha added: “He is my biggest supporter and Mika was so excited that I am doing Bigg Boss.
“He is my best friend and I look up to him for so many things. I am relieved that he is outside supporting me.
“People might say a lot of things about us but I do not care.
“For people who have watched the show, they know it was about one girl winning it. And we ended the show on a friendly note.
“I still believe that as a life partner, you should choose friends over anyone else.
“I am single and Mika is my closest friend, and he will have the same things to say.”
Although Bigg Boss OTT 2 has just started, Akanksha has already made waves, getting into a war of words with Avinash Sachdev.
In a teaser for an upcoming episode, Avinash and Akanksha got into an argument while Palak Purswani found herself in the middle of things.
Avinash told Akanksha: “I just told her I am cleaning, you have the food, and she goes, ‘You have to clean’.”
Palak responded: “Not that you have to clean but that the work must not stop.”
Akanksha interrupted them and said it does not concern her whether the misunderstanding is between Avinash and Palak.
She then said Avinash tries to project his frustration during other conversations, telling him:
“Do not snap at me. You keep your frustration aside with her only.”
