“I am unable to come to terms with the news."
The suicide of actress Sejal Sharma shocked the film and television fraternity and now police are on the hunt for her boyfriend as a possible suspect.
Sejal Sharma, originally from Udaipur in Rajasthan moved to Mumbai in 2017. She shot to fame with her role in the drama series, Dil Toh Happy Hai Ji (2019).
The actress committed suicide by hanging herself. She was found dead in the morning at her residence on Mira Road on Friday, January 24, 2020.
The devastating news shocked her family, friends, co-stars and fans. Sejal’s co-star Jasmin Bhasin expressed her shock at the news. In an interview with SpotboyE, she said:
“I’m shocked and disturbed because she was a very happy girl and we would get along really well. I don’t see any reason why did she do that. But it’s very sad.”
In the Times of India, Sejal’s co-star Aru K Verma also expressed his despair over Sejal’s death:
“Yes, this is true. I am shocked to hear the news. It’s very difficult for me to believe as I had met her just ten days ago and we had even chatted on WhatsApp on Sunday (January 19, 2020).
“I am unable to come to terms with the news. I met her ten days back and she was absolutely fine.
“Her family discovered the news today morning but I think she committed suicide yesterday night.”
Reportedly Sejal Sharma left behind a suicide note stating that no one is responsible for her untimely death.
Despite the note, police are investigating the case. Numerous reports have suggested that the actress was suffering from depression after her TV project was taken off the air.
However, her mother claimed that Sejal had acquired a lead role for an upcoming show.
According to recent reports, the police are now examining the love angle after friends hinted at the possibility of her relationship heightening her depression.
The anonymous friend claimed that Sejal’s relationship may have caused her to take the drastic step and decide to end her life.
The family members of Sejal Sharma have taken her body to Udaipur for her final rites ceremony.
As of now, police are continuing with questioning all Sejal Sharma’s friends while searching for her boyfriend.
