"I felt a man trying to touch my backside."
Bollywood actress Taapsee Pannu has recalled the shocking moment when she was molested and how she dealt with the incident.
Taapsee has created a storm in the film industry with her stellar performances and versatile film choices like Pink (2016), Naam Shabana (2017), Soorma (2018), Mulk (2018) and many more.
The actress has fast become a fan favourite and is also known for her bold and outspoken nature.
Recently, Taapsee featured on Kareena Kapoor Khan’s radio show, What Women Want on Ishq.
Unfortunately, many women have suffered from cases of indecent behaviour and the actress revealed that she too was a victim of molestation on the show. She said:
“We used to go to the Gurudwara during Gurpurab and I remember there used to be stalls next to it that served food to people outside.
“The place used to be crowded in such a way that people would always end up bumping into each other. I had awkward experiences before this incident as well.
Taapsee continued to mention that she had an inkling that something like this would occur. She explained:
“But this time, I had an intuition that something like this would happen as I am going into that kind of crowd.
“I was mentally prepared for it until I felt a man trying to touch my backside. That’s when I realised that this is happening again.”
Upon realising what was happening, Taapsee Pannu disclosed that her immediate reaction was to get hold of the man. She said:
“This was followed by an instant reaction. I grabbed his finger, twisted it and moved fast from that area.”
On the work front, the actress is set to hit the big screen next with Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad (2020).
The film also stars Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Dia Mirza and more in pivotal roles. Thappad is set to release on February 28, 2020.
Taapsee Pannu is also gearing towards playing an athlete in the upcoming sports film, Rashmi Rocket (2020).
It does not end here for Taapsee, she will also be seen playing female cricketer Mithali Raj in her biopic, Shabaash Mithu. The film will release on February 5, 2021.
Fans are eager to see Taapsee Pannu grace the silver screen once again. We hope Taapsee’s molestation incident inspires women to fight back against such indecent behaviour.
