"peace was absent in my life."

Speculation has arisen that Maryam Nawaz is the reason for her son’s divorce following her former daughter-in-law’s statement on the matter.

Ayesha Saif took to Instagram and confirmed the divorce reports.

She also hinted that the PML-N Vice President was to blame.

In her post, Ayesha began by quoting a passage from the Quran stating that the purpose of a relationship between a husband and wife is to live peacefully and lovingly.

The post continued: “Yes, wealth and the luxuries of life play an important role in today’s world, but peace was absent in my life.

“I was never provided with enough love or that peace that any wife expects from her husband.

“I am happy with my divorce and want to move ahead in my life for the better.

“Please keep me out of all this as my privacy matters a lot to me, but maybe my then mother-in-law does not understand this basic human thing. Peace.”

Ayesha’s post received a mixed reaction, with some siding with her.

However, others questioned how Maryam could have intervened in Ayesha’s marriage.

Junaid Safdar also released a statement, confirming the divorce. He also wished his ex-wife well.

Junaid posted: “News about my divorce is true. This is an entirely private matter and I request the media to respect our privacy.

“I hope that with this decision we find our peace In’Sha’Allah. I will speak no further on this matter. I wish her well.”

Ayesha and Junaid tied the knot in August 2021 in a lavish ceremony in London and then held a grand function in Pakistan in December of the same year, where many politicians were present.

During the wedding festivities, Maryam Nawaz was accused of overshadowing the bride as she attended her son’s wedding in heavily embroidered outfits and extravagant make-up.

Many social media users claimed Maryam was displaying controlling behaviour.

When the wedding photographs were released, netizens congratulated Ayesha.

Since news of the divorce has become official, Maryam has not yet released a statement regarding the situation.

Ayesha Saif is the daughter of the former chairman of the Ehtesaab Bureau, Saif Ur Rehman Khan. He served during Nawaz Sharif’s second term as Prime Minister.

She grew up in Qatar where she completed part of her education before moving to London to study engineering at university.

Sana is from a law background who's pursuing her love of writing. She likes reading, music, cooking and making her own jam. Her motto is: "Taking the second step is always less scarier than taking the first."
