“I felt compelled to address these rumours"

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has responded to rumours regarding her health, specifically claims that she is suffering from throat cancer.

She recently spoke at a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) event in London.

Maryam was also joined by her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Dismissing the cancer rumours, Maryam clarified that her health issues are related to her parathyroid gland.

During her remarks, she shared details about her recent medical visit to Geneva for specialised check-ups.

She explained: “I have been working continuously for eight months while managing a parathyroid issue that requires treatment available only in Switzerland or the United States.”

Maryam reassured her supporters that her condition is manageable, stating:

“I don’t have throat cancer as reported.

“I felt compelled to address these rumours but didn’t wish to portray myself as a victim.”

She confirmed that she plans to return to Pakistan in two days.

Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party for its recent protests against political opponents abroad.

Speaking to journalists outside his Avenfield residence in London, he said:

“They [PTI] encouraged misbehaviour during their time in power, and they continue to promote it in opposition.”

Sharif pointed out that PTI supporters had engaged in confrontational behaviour, including “chasing cars and throwing eggs and tomatoes”.

The former Prime Minister urged them to conduct protests with more dignity.

This political tension has intensified following a recent incident in Geneva, Switzerland.

Maryam Nawaz faced heckling from PTI supporters as she entered a building.

The protesters began chanting slogans aimed at undermining her leadership.

These specifically referenced the controversial Form 47, which relates to the upcoming 2024 general elections.

The PTI has accused the government of manipulating this document.

Their slogan “Form 47, Form 47!” has become a rallying cry in their campaign against alleged electoral fraud.

Videos from the incident were shared online, sparking conversations.

A user said: “They need to be exposed again and again. We shouldn’t give a f**k about their shame. Stop saying that they don’t have shame.

“We are not attempting to make them feel shame. It’s too late for that. Keep humiliating them.”

Another wrote: “Even if they somehow go to Mars, they will get called thieves there as well.”

One commented: “You are inside a building with protocol, talking about your people and how much you care about them.

“And just outside of that building, you are being confronted by the same people. The irony!”
