The intimate scene between Triptii Dimri and Ranbir Kapoor in Animal has grabbed a lot of attention but the actress stated that “it was nothing in comparison” to Bulbbul.

The talked-about scene in Animal features their characters sharing a passionate kiss before getting intimate.

Triptii is seen partially nude and it led to criticism.

Addressing the criticism, Triptii said:

“This scene is being criticised a lot. This troubled me initially because I am a person who has rarely faced criticism. I was surprised. But I sat quietly and thought about it.

“The day I decided to become an actor, no one forced me to become an actor.

“I wanted to do it because I found it exciting. I did not do anything wrong in the film.

“As I started acting, the character I was playing became a part of the healing in a way. I started enjoying it. I started finding happiness in every challenge and thing that came my way.”

She also admitted that the rape scene she filmed for the 2020 Netflix film Bulbbul was “more challenging”.

Triptii elaborated: “I think the rape scenes that I did in Bulbbul were more challenging to me as a person because you are just giving up, and giving up is more difficult than finding the courage to do something.

“If I can overcome that, then I think this was nothing in comparison to that scene in Bulbbul.”

Recalling the atmosphere on set while filming the scene with Ranbir, Triptii explained that director Sandeep Reddy Vanga constantly made sure she was comfortable.

She said: “While signing the project, Sandeep told me that there’s a scene and I want to shoot it this way, but I will make it look aesthetically amazing.

“I want to create a Beauty and the Beast kind of image.

“And this is what I have. I leave it up to you, whether you’re comfortable or not comfortable, you let me know, we’ll work around it is what he told me.

“So, when I saw the references, I was like ‘wow, it’s an important moment between the two characters’. That made me comfortable.”

On set, Triptii Dimri had to be “completely honest” and “leave herself aside and be that person”.

She continued: “Luckily, in my case, I’ve been dealing with whether I was doing the rape scene in Bulbbul or this one, they kept asking me if I am okay.

“They also ensured that there were no more than five people, including the director, the DOP, and the actors during the scene.”

“Nobody else was allowed on set, all the monitors were shut, and they were like, ‘This is the scene we are doing. If at any point you feel you’re uncomfortable, let us know’.

“We’ll go at your pace… Every five minutes, Ranbir Kapoor was checking up on me and asking, ‘Are you okay, are you comfortable?’

“I think these things really matter. People are sensitive to these things.”

Although the scene attracted a lot of attention, close-up shots were deleted after the Central Board of Film Certification suggested eight cuts to the film prior to its release on December 1, 2023.
